    Quincy Infill and Small Developments

In the agenda for tonight's planning board meeting: an MBTA communities act project at 90 Columbia St. 3 story building with a daycare and swim school on the first floor, 6 units on top of it. 25 parking spaces. Currently a single story office building hosting a printing company with 20 parking...

    Hartford CT

The city (and state)'s leadership hasn't done it any favors, but it really is facing a lot of headwinds. Its geographic reason to exist (last point to which you could run a big ship up the CT river) is irrelevant. Its former core industries have no more reason to locate there. If you are a...

Non MBTA buses, School buses, and electrification

I don't disagree with anything you said. What i take issue with is how the article (and the conversation around school transportation costs in general) looks at that uncritically rather than considering how to reduce these liabilities long term. Its not all that different from other long term...

Non MBTA buses, School buses, and electrification

https://www.bostonglobe.com/2026/02/10/opinion/school-bus-costs/ Coming from an edu background this has long been a pet issue of mine. I hate that last line in the article, it's become so deeply ingrained that its a school district's responsibility to provide yet another subsidy for sprawl by...

    Braintree infill and small developments

Road Safety Audit for Five-Corners and the intersection of Forbes/Granite has been published: https://tooledesign.egnyte.com/fl/4bCqh4jHBQwV The biggest piece I'd note is the recommendation to remove the slip lane at the I-93 NB Exit 6 ramp that empties onto Granite St SB. Mostly otherwise a...

If it weren't CT's capital, Hartford would be full on Waterbury. Very little going for it structurally.

Connected/Automated vehicles and infrastructure in Boston

We should be making non-autonomous taxis do this anyway and iirc Kenmore was the exact neighborhood Boston ran a successful pilot of that with (or, it was a designated drop off area within Kenmore rather than outside of it, but similar in concept). Edit: one thing I want to dive deeper on is...

The lawsuit point is fascinating. I was wondering if Quincy was leaving itself open to ADA lawsuits by not requiring residents to shovel. Mind blowing that the suits are going in the opposite direction.

Connected/Automated vehicles and infrastructure in Boston

https://www.bostonglobe.com/2026/02/05/metro/waymo-boston-self-driving-cars/ I'm deeply skeptical of their widespread viability in complex urban environments, though people seem to like them in SF and Austin from the little I've looked into it. I just don't see how they can be both convenient...

Not saying I endorse this idea in the specific, but we do need to be considering how we can better manage major snow events (particularly as the climate is heading towards higher intensities of precipitation when they do come) and it's people who aren't driving that are presently most impacted.
