Because we are one of the most important sports cities in the world and not exactly dummies. If they didn't listen to us Fenway would be gone, Patriot Place wouldn't exist and they would both be playing in a Megaplex where the Seaport is now.

I thought Wynn owned the land. Anyway, here is an audit of the 1999 in lieu of taxes agreement for Gillette. Notice that Foxboro actually now owns the land, and Kraft has a 35 year renewable lease on it for 35 more years coming up fairly soon. Also the $68M state portion of this would be almost...

Housing (Supply Crisis & Public Policy)

It is not corporations that we should worry about locally it is another exodus or "brain drain" of graduates like that which happened in the late 80s until about 1998. The problem with fixing it is success and the ensuing spike in real estate prices.

Betteridge's law of headlines is an adage that states: "Any headline that ends in a question mark can be answered by the word no." It is based on the assumption that if the publishers were confident that the answer was yes, they would have presented it as an assertion; by presenting it as a...

It is unknown if something else could have been built because it was zoned as a port facility. If there are any other questions, then I suggest actually reading the thread. The only allowed use under law is now a soccer stadium. To change that you must change the state law and then expect that...

It won't get scrapped, this will probably go to binding arbitration today. Boston will probably get a little bit more than the low ball and then there is no reason why this won't move forward

That's the point. Why is a guy privileged to be born in Newton against White Stadium? The answer is that some people have a pathological dislike for Wu, so White Stadium is just a way to get at her and if they screw over the poor kids, too bad. Boston kids deserve the to have their Newton North...

The only thing I completely disagree with is that Wu is trying to "extort." She was given the right to negotiate for the city through an act of legislature that the Kraft people lobbied for. He could have built it somewhere else on land that he owns.

Maryland gave $500M to the Ravens. Yes, we should be like you guys. The taxpayers are on the hook for 5 White Stadiums with no public benefit

It is some real spin to claim that Encore or Kraft are responsible for either site being viable when that credit goes to the MWRA ratepayers like you and I. Prior to that nothing waterfront got built because it fronted an open sewer. We fixed that not him. Tomorrow is the deadline for Kraft to...

The vision for Franklin Park and other large urban parks should be informed by places like Prospect Park. I am sorry you can't see that. I pointing out that the best dining option right now seems to be a casino that is expensive and not fun

This neighborhood is desolate and certainly no Fenway. If I was to bring the family, what would our dinner options be besides a $25 hotdog or dinner in a casino? In contrast, White Stadium will have a number of local restaurants that you can walk to and food trucks

    Morrissey Boulevard Redesign

Now I think this bridge will probably be replaced but they have put it off for too long and the people at the meeting are correct to point out that it is a 2 mile stretch of road that has multiple development projects going on and there is no single entity in charge of all of them. The...

"Dorchester resident John Wixted argued that Morrissey Boulevard functions largely as a commuter funnel rather than a local road, citing estimates that 75 to 85 percent of traffic consists of through traffic heading to Interstate 93. “Instead of spending hundreds of millions of dollars raising...
