In terms of where you can go on the T, it's actually very good. IMO only NYC has better transit coverage. It's the reliability that's the issue.

    Reasonable Transit Pitches

There actually already are bus shuttles from Union Station to the Big E run by King Ward. https://www.thebige.com/p/generalinfo/shuttles There is also a PVTA bus line that runs down Memorial Ave, the R14, although the schedule isn't great.

I wish that the 90 bus ran more frequently. That's the only other decent transit to Assembly, and connects to the rest of Somerville.

The fact that they are not taking this opportunity to put protected bike lanes here is practically criminal. I personally think they should just turn the westbound lane into a two-way bike lane. It only exists for that one block anyway. Car traffic can just go around the block and use Stuart St.

    The New Retail Thread

Thumbs up for Time Out Market. Very high quality food at a range of prices. It's like a kicked up food court with alcohol and made-to-order food rather than the usual pre-made mediocre crap you get at malls.

Steve is correct. That map is now out of date.

South Boston Infill and Small Developments

I don't want to hear any more complaints from the locals about parking in Southie. This will definitely solve the problem. :-D

    Biking in Boston

I think the City is intending for the official South Bay Harbor Trail route to use Albany St from Melnea Cass to Frontage Road. There are already bike lanes along most if it.

If people are complaining about parking prices, that means they are working as intended. If parking were free, I guarantee traffic would be a total nightmare, and the lot will probably regularly fill up. People tend to only look at time-of-use costs when traveling, so if parking was free while...

I wish we had rear-door buttons on buses rather than relying on the driver!

The T simply cannot keep up with maintenance. I've been told that it's largely a problem with the operating budget being far too low over a long period of time, even though the capital budget has more than they have been able to spend. So things are left to rot and then have to be completely...

    Downtown Crossing/Financial District | Discussion

They clearly didn't put any places to sit there so that the "undesirables" won't hang out there. ARGH.

Totally agree. The City's obsessions with signals is so frustrating, as is how often they make the timing absolutely horrible.

I would just like two things: - a mobile-friendly site - the ability to "like" or "up-vote" posts

Dock Square Parking Garage | 20 Clinton Street | Downtown

Re: Dock Square Parking Garage | 20 Clinton Street | I wish it didn't feel so much like a building on top of a parking podium, that they had done more to try to hide that fact and make the facade feel more continuous.

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

I was on an SL bus coming from the airport on Friday night. As we approached D St, the signal was green, but it turned red before we got there. We only waited about 30 seconds before it turned green again, which is a big improvement over the past. I don't know why it didn't just hold the green...

    Biking in Boston

Putting a bike lane on the MOS driveway was evaluated, and discarded: (1) The grades are too steep to meet engineering standards (2) The MOS doesn't want it there (3) It doesn't go the full length of Charles River Dam Road Charles River Dam road is a major connection for EVERYONE. Yes, in...
