Very disappointing. The City is really losing credibility with their plowing ahead of Rutherford Ave and Melnea Cass Blvd with designs that are VERY unpopular with the community. These were both designed by veteran BTD engineers who have been dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century...

The number of people on the streets around Mass/Cass has gone WAY up since COVID. 60% of them are not from Boston. There are more used needles around than previously as well. And because a lot of public facilities are closed, the amount of human feces on streets and sidewalks is out of control...

The only upside I see to a garage like this is that it becomes easier to remove on-street parking for bus and bike lanes!

I think for bikes, the intent was to either ride in the travel lane or use the sidewalks.

I think it's also because of the new signal timing. Court St and Cambridge St will have a green at the same time now, so bikes would have to cross two lanes of moving traffic to get to the bike lane on Tremont St.

I would compare it to the effects that Fenway Park has on the surrounding neighborhoods. It definitely brings in customers to the local businesses.

You can't just flip the location if the street isn't wide enough. A bike lane between parked cars and a travel lane can be 5', but a bike lane between the curb and parked cars needs to be 8' (5' + 3' buffer.) Also, we will sometimes hear that that there needs to be 18' of pavement available in...

Well they've been studying it since 2014 and they've already scrapped some very good plans. The fact that it took until 2020 to do ANYTHING is pretty sad.

Making this a senior living facility is actually really smart, if not just because residents in a residence like this do NOT have cars. But also, being in the middle of the city is a good thing. Seniors can actually get outside and walk places and participate in the neighborhood...

In 30 years, we're going to think this new building looks just as stupid as the 80s addition did to us now. Also, why are the windows so small?
