    General Infrastructure

They're going to pave the pathways of the Fens. In many ways, it's well past due, but as the article says the existing gravel paths were so packed down they were almost as impermeable as asphalt. Which makes me wonder - why not just use some permeable pavement system instead of going whole hog...

    Cars

As usual, the Lime Rock Park Historic Festival proves to be an amazing car show beyond the on-track stuff. The Chiron looked pedestrian only because of what was a couple of slots down, a Pagani Huayra in full blue-tinted carbon glory. The Chiron is impressive engineering, the Huayra is art.

Postmodernism deserves a little love too!

My wife and I are spending quite a bit of time at Beth Israel's Shapiro Center in advance of our new baby coming in October. Today, for the first time, I actually looked around the lobby, and was blown away. Everyone knows how wild the outside looks, but inside is perfection. I wanted to take a...

MBTA "Transformation" (Green Line, Red Line, & Orange Line Transformation Projects)

That photo makes me wonder what the T's Lock Out/Tag Out procedures are for the third rail system.

Massachusetts State Flag (we need a better state flag)

I like the cod one. I feel like a bunch of the others are trying too hard. Sad that the Pac Man looking one from the initial submissions (slide 25) didn't make it, I thought it was symbolic in a neat way that wasn't beating you over the head with it.

Vega (MXD Residential ) | 121 Broadway | Kendall Square

It's driving my brain nuts they don't have that diagonal pattern reversing into a chevron shape.

Postmodernism deserves a little love too!

Am I weird that what I immediately think of when looking at those photos (other than Pauly Shore) is the interior of the Crystal Cathedral from those Sunday morning religious shows that I'd stumble on flipping through the channels? The Cathedral predates it by over a decade, and while I know the...

    "Dirty Old Boston"

Visited another library book sale today and came home with this gem from 1987. Was about to pass on it but saw the Museum of Science pic at the end and then had to have it. There's a whole bunch of Harvard aerials in this one, for whatever reason, but it's the mid-80s era Boston that I find so...

    "Dirty Old Boston"

Went back through the Everpresent drive and pulled out some more things. Random, but I figured people would be interested. First, M St. Park probably mid- to late-'90s. Baby me on the old letter animals at the Castle Island playground. These were Not Safe (my sister put her teeth through her...

    General Boston Discussion

Not the only church in Boston that was denied spires! Gate of Heaven, in Southie, was originally designed with large spires that were ultimately never built...

    Boston Alt History

So here's a new one from UHub: MIT originally planned to stay in Boston by purchasing the Allston Golf Club, which was situated just to the west of Nickerson Field and right by the train yard. An alumnus who lived in the area wrote to the school to reconsider as he was so fed up with the noise...

Impeccable vibes with that one! I wish I knew how (and had time) to edit videos to do a Postmodern slideshow set to vaporwave. Would be A E S T H E T I C.

    Worcester Infill and Small Developments

I drive by this area relatively often and it's a perfect spot for a development like this, a Stop & Shop is right next door and there's good access to various other things.

I might have to find one of those lamps now. How I'll justify it to my wife I don't know, but I'll have to look.

Postmodernism deserves a little love too!

I've mentioned the book "Boston: Beacon for a New Horizon" on here before, but I went through it again and pulled out some more images of some neat PoMo stuff. The entire book is a window into 1994 and a Boston that doesn't quite exist anymore. Most of the companies who are featured in it as...

Where am I? The photo contest

I won't spoil it. but I thought I knew the location immediately. I was wrong - it's about a neighborhood over from there. There's a clue in the image that gives you a good lead. One of those streets you'd never go down unless you had a good reason.
