Repositioning. Portland->Chicago->Des Moines was cancelled. They moved the plan to Des Moines for this morning's flight to Chicago.

Unfortunately, I'm not sure the rapid transit line will come into play with many of the residents of this proposed development. It's about a 3 mile walk from the development to downtown Gorham. It's actually a shorter walk to the nearest existing Metro stop in front of IIDEXX in Westbrook.

If it makes you feel better, I am 100% in favor of building a monorail from Gorham to Portland (y)

Hanna Associates owns this whole corner now. They bought the Pratt Abbott property in 1998, and they bought the parking lot next door, as well as the two adjacent properties at 448 Main Street, in 2009. I have to imagine they have bigger plans for this.

I have to imagine it is light years less expensive to build on outer Congress than downtown. Likely zero soil contamination remediation/disposal costs. Easier to make the economics work.

This whole block is ripe for redevelopment. In the past, this little light industrial section near downtown was fine, but now it makes more sense to move the industrial stuff out toward Warren Ave or the industrial parks.

Hearing them talk about why they made certain design and color decision made me appreciate this a little more. That said, they still need to do more to dress up the upper floors of the garage.

From what I've read, it's a temporary, weather-resistant plastic used covering for glulams while they're still exposed to weather.

Probably worth mentioning that Live Nation is just a partner, not the developer of the music hall. Mile Marker Investments, which has an office in Scarborough, is the developer. If anything, they're the ones with the viable suit against the city.
