    Congestion toll in Boston?

Kale is delicious, and Bikes not Bombs is doing great work to make bike riding and job skills accessible to disadvantaged youth in Boston. But it's hard to take seriously a statement from somebody who uses them as a punching bag.

355 Bennington Street | East Boston

I was under the impression that the Silver Line was getting a Day Square stop as part of the Bus Network Redesign, but now I can't find anything about that.

MBTA "Transformation" (Green Line, Red Line, & Orange Line Transformation Projects)

I wouldn't be so sure. Usually a short turn is for a train that leaves Cleveland Circle (or BC) on time, but due to surface running unpredictability, the train is late by the time it reaches Kenmore. Maybe they could have made the decision before Arlington (or announced if the decision were made...

Fenway Center (One Kenmore) | Turnpike Parcel 7, Beacon Street | Fenway

When that information became well understood, the decking was already underway. Are you seriously suggesting that we should have made them stop, with an incomplete deck? Do you think that would in anyway be better than the completed deck that we actually got?

    Transit history/trivia quiz

I checked, because my recollection from the first time I used Gare du Nord, was that it had low platforms even in the early 90s. Sure enough, Google AI confirms that the high level platforms were installed in 1994.

    Congestion toll in Boston?

I won't dispute that most Americans, and perhaps most transit users world wide don't like transfers. But if the frequency is there, I personally don't find them to be the least bit bothersome. It's a fine trade-off for a broader list of destinations. When I visited St. Petersburg back in the...

    Congestion toll in Boston?

Add North-South Rail Link to that, and the other low hanging but needed extensions like OLX to West Roxbury, and we would have a massively more useful system for the people deciding to leave their cars at home.

Midtown Hotel Redevelopment | 220 Huntington Avenue | Back Bay

Don't get me wrong -- I favored the proposed development. But I'd rather it be something that retained at least some small element of the Midtown in the design.

I'm not sure that's an accurate statement about what happened. It could be that they didn't have financing in place for more than the deck, but that seems very surprising if so, because it would mean somebody was willing to put out the deck funding on spec alone. What really happened is that the...

    General Massachusetts Politics Discussion

It also presupposes that Massachusetts is a high tax state, which isn't really true. Massachusetts ranks in the third quintile, behind such supposedly low tax red states like Nebraska, Indiana, and Kansas. We shouldn't assume high income people can't research and validate the inaccurate rumors...

    Mansfield developments

The first time I went to a show at Great Woods, I assumed it would be possible to get there by Commuter Rail. Fortunately, I did enough research to figure out that wouldn't work, but unfortunately, it really should work!

    Congestion toll in Boston?

I would extend the western boundary all the way to Mass Ave, but otherwise, agree with @CBCArch61 on trying to do the full zone up front. It's quite possible that people in the South End would then petition for inclusion, once a lot of traffic diverts from Boylston to Tremont and Washington Streets.

MBTA "Transformation" (Green Line, Red Line, & Orange Line Transformation Projects)

The strange thing about this statement, is that they were already doing this several years ago. It's not a new idea, nor is it operationally new for the T to do this. I guess they must have stopped at some point, so I'm glad it's coming back at least.

I would think it doesn't line up all over the place, not just in curves. A feature of catenary is that it zigs above the pantograph. I suspect it hasn't aligned with the trough since the day they transitioned from trolley wire.

Hyde Park Infill and Small Developments

Yes, it's a quick ride to Forest Hills on the 32, but only off peak. For commuters, that's a very slow bus at 7:30 in the morning. Based on recent community meetings regarding Hyde Parke Ave safety, the city is apparently not interested in bus priority lanes for that corridor, but it's really...

Hyde Park Infill and Small Developments

Proximity to the Roslindale commuter rail station is bit of a stretch. It's not super far, but it's a 30 minute walk. Interesting spot, in that it's roughly the same walking distance from 4 different stations, but I think that's too far to claim that it's nearby. Definitely a reasonable biking...

Multi-Family Zoning Requirements for MBTA Communities

It doesn't need to be an either/or proposition. We need to build lots of dense urban housing in core city locations, but also build a lot more housing adjacent to commuter rail stations. We can and should do both of these things.

    Crazy Transit Pitches

It's a cool map, the one question I have, regards the elimination of the Needham Line. I realize most crayon maps do that, on the assumption that it gets a rapid transit replacement. But in a world where you are basically restoring passenger rail to most places it has ever been in the past, it...
