Copley Square Revamp | Back Bay

I begrudigingly accept the fact that Gen X and Gen Y learned more about what make parts of cities more comfortable places to be because of all the encouragement to go study abroad - even if that just meant Canada or the UK - we've clearly been learning what is better public space than our...

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

For such a sleepy town, there's still life and activity at 1 or 2 in the morning all over the subway zone of metro Boston. Those who are out would be greatly benefitted by having safe, public transit over night, even if it's not the subway.

    Biking in Boston

The project page looks to have not been updated in about 1-2 years. I don't think I would trust the information there - it seems like the only trustworthy source of info on anything this mayor is doing is a council hearing (still very bad) or media interview (where somehow policy is made?). The...

Roads and Highways General Development Thread

When I lived in Italy, I found a good number of these round about intersections - but - through an area like Concord it would be a single small overpass bridge carrying a two-lane carriage way (1x1) maybe a three-lane carriage way (2x1). That would seem sufficient, with long enough ramps to deal...

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

I don't doubt the need for some sustained maintenance, repair, or modernization work. However, shutting down over a holiday weekend or for 3.5 days is a big difference to the weeks long shutdowns that are still going on regularly on the subway in Boston.

Generally needs like more 6-10 story buildings - and terra cotta - as well.

I think the T and the Governor found that the public accepted such long shutdowns as an indication that they could do this more regularly without political blowback. I think everyone's drunk the Eng is king kool-aid and are willing to deal with it until he retires. I'm not sure that we have the...

Copper Mill Development | Elm Street and Grove Street | Davis Square

I hate the proliferation of non-elected boards, even our elected boards, as Plato says tend toward oligarchy. This is "boys club" "democracy" being remade into "upper-middle class interest" "democracy".

I think you're thinking of the 91 (which runs parallel to the old CT2, new 85) rather than the 83 which does also leave from Central.

Everett Transportation (SL3 extension, potential OLX/GLX, Sweetser Circle infill station)

This map makes my questioning of the current HFBR 104 route even more prescient post Silver Line extension to Sullivan. At that point it seems like the T should just run the 104 as the SL104 to Airport from Malden and use the Gateway Transitway, no?

Regional New England Rail (Amtrak & State DOT & NEC)

I see this image and all I can think of "sales job". Looking at some of the details even in the rendering - why are all the stair cases enclosed? If we have a platform canopy and the hall shed, keeping doors at platform level seems awfully excessive.

    Gillette Stadium Transportatio Improvements

The last MBTA update had a "this is historical" tone to the press release but the actual statistics seem a bit middling. The MBTA's announced numbers for the Scotland v Ayiti match - 6,200 tickets of 20,000 train seats - and of 65,000 spectators. This looks like transportation to this stadium in...

    Gillette Stadium Transportatio Improvements

I also don't think that Boston has that much excess hotel capacity that have spun up for the 5 weeks of world cup events either. I wouldn't be surprised for these games to spread visitors/attendees pretty far afield from the southwest sector of metro boston.

    Massachusetts 2026 Congressional elections

We went away with the "planned" White supremacist immigration system in 1965. The diversity lottery is a minority of immigration visas. Most visas are for family preference or immediate relative. The immigration reform that's needed is equally about normalizing non-immigrant workers without...
