The lot abuts Huron Avenue, and on the plans it looks like there will be access directly to/from Huron Ave. So that should reduce the impact to the Wyman Rd. cul-de-sac.
Looking at recent preliminary designs for major MassDOT projects, it's a mixed bag. The Rte. 16/Fellsway Wellington Circle redo proposal looks to be a sea of asphalt highway lanes, the Morrisey Blvd proposals look like an expressway, the initial designs for the Reid overpass project are a...
MassDOT, like any other DOT, Federal or State, obviously has an embedded inertia many decades old that is heavily roadway focused. It is in their road design standard drawings and specs, and in their organizational culture. For a long time I worked as a civil engineer for the US Forest...
I don't mind the height, but the one large sprawling building should be broken up into three of four individual buildings separated by wide paths. This would give it a more human scale plus help with pedestrian connectivity.
The proposed tower would dwarf, for now, the surrounding neighborhood. But Davis Sq is a major transportation hub, the confluence of the Red Line, major bus routes, and the multi-use path extending all the way from Bedford to Boston. It is destined to become a high density hub with this tower...

That's not true. Huge additions were built in the 60s and 70s. The tower part of the museum and the garage were added in the late 60s, and right after that the museum buildings were expanded and extended toward the new garage.
Thank you for the great info. I was going to the Boston Museum of Science by the time I was 12 (1962), including the Charles Hayden Planetarium which opened in 1958 per the Wikipedia article. I loved Spooky the owl and the interactive presentations they had with him. I went to the museum and...
From the article: "As with the Allston highway project, Bowker Overpass, McGrath Highway and countless other hack jobs, safety, climate change and community wishes are secondary to increasing vehicle throughput at any cost."
The traffic models will almost always show the need for multi-lane...
