Side note: that’s a nice dystopian filter you have on your camera.

As a kid, I crayoned a plan to convert the Red Line to a maglev and run it down the median of Route 2 to 128. Can I get the $50k?

$50k in the budget to study a Red Line extension to the Concord rotary. I think most folks here could probably save the state the $50k. https://concordbridge.org/index.php/2026/07/15/red-line-extension-to-concord-gains-steam-as-transit-talks-roll-on/

    "Dirty Old Boston"

Fine-grained density, without the block consuming monoliths, makes for much more interesting urbanism.

Mixed Use (40B Fmr Star Market) | 299 Broadway | Winter Hill | Somerville

This one has had its official ground breaking recently. I also saw a tower crane being erected yesterday, but wasn’t able to grab a photo.

When I worked in the area at a dotcom the entrance on the bus loop struck me as PoMo. I never did see the interior to confirm whether it was really PoMo.

Crayon question: Is there enough demand generation in Portland for a commuter rail network?

    The New Residential Conversion Thread

I would love to see the O’Neill nuked and Nashua St straightened and connected to Causeway. Split the lot and get some height with small footprints.

The blurb doesn’t give an address, but it looks like the building abutting the bus layover.

That is a definite improvement on the commercial garage that occupied the site. The format of two triple deckers and one or two ADUs is the new formula for building in Somerville.

That’s the small ball maintenance that the Pioneer Institute folks dropped. Eng has done a damn good job at reviving it.

It’s pretty, but the final result feels chubbier than the renders. I think it suffers from the same problem as 660 Washington St did: The renders picked the angle that hid the bulk, and they had considerable bulk.

    90 Washington Street | Somerville

From the city council update, it sounds like Leerink bailed out and Wood updated their proposal. The SRA may vote on this tomorrow.

Copley Square Revamp | Back Bay

I feel like there was a missed opportunity for using Copley as a viewing location for World Cup games. Close Dartmouth and use the BPL as a backdrop for the screen.

Kendall Common ( née Volpe Redevelopment) | Kendall Sq | Cambridge

Too bad the daylighting of the canal is only temporary. That would be an interesting feature for the neighborhood.

I’m guessing DivCo is betting that things will snap back after the current administration departs.

Silver Hill has very affluent patrons that keep it from a decaying relic viewed through the windows of a passing train.
