Acela & Amtrak NEC (HSR BOS-NYP-WAS and branches only)

Yeah. I sprang for first class, so I had lounge access. It’s a beautiful, but hostile, space for people that don’t have access to the lounge. However, the contrast to South Station is stunning. That waiting area is in serious need of a renovation.

Acela & Amtrak NEC (HSR BOS-NYP-WAS and branches only)

Between the new Avelia trains and the Moynihan train hall, my recent trip to NYC was down right civilized.

The Amtrak lounge at South Station has a nice collection of old school photos of South Station.

    New England Electrical Grid

Would building New England Clean Power Link help? It was one of the alternative proposals in the solicitation that yielded NECEC. I think it has all the required permits.

Postmodernism deserves a little love too!

I agree. Children’s does maintain tight security, so folks need a reason to be there. Most folks who have a reason aren’t going to stop to notice the architecture. 333 needs a bit of TLC. You can see the tarps collecting leaks on the upper left gallery. The clock wasn’t working either.

Repeal the default right on red. It doesn’t directly address the concurrent signal problem, but it does reduce the number variables in the mechanics of how intersections operate.

60-62 Line St. This is an old double lot that had a single triple decker. It’s getting a gut rehab and an ADU. The hole is for a new triple decker. Amusing to see the spray painted smiley and frowny faces on the soil. I guess that the frown is for controlled soils.

The sign says open, but the Bates Motel looks more inviting. I couldn’t see a single human through the windows.

Roads and Highways General Development Thread

That’s not too far from the crayon ideas I had years ago. I think I settled on a roundabout for surface streets only. One idea had no access to or from 2. The other had westbound 2 accessible from 2A by the DPW and eastbound 2 accessible from Comm Ave by the prison lot.

Photo of the Day, Boston Style: Part XX (2026)

I wish they would remove the drop ceiling, which I suspect is concealing some interior detailing, and reopen the windows on Summer Street.

That crossing has been closed for decades. I suspect most traffic diverts through the rotary or Piper Rd.
