Am I the only one that thinks the exterior of South Station could be substantially improved by a simple power-washing. The moldy green crud just needs to go. just saying.

It's about time. I actually thought that would be good location for a liquor store. Surprisingly, there are few options on that part of Lincoln St and that plaza get a ton of business.

I was a bit leery about this makeover when I first saw the rendering. My reaction was that downtown was getting another glass tower, ho hum. But, admittedly, I am impressed with the result. It's an improvement though I still resist the notion of more glass towers. As an example, the Seaport...

Agreed with both points. The cost of parking in the city is a huge deterrent for me. Having said that, the Copley T station is one block away and the orange line is a short walk as well so convenient for the city dwellers at least.

I couldn't imagine having an appt facing that massive mural. oh, the horrors.

what happened to all of the cool lights under the arches of the Longfellow bridge? I just see one archway illuminated.

I have driven through the intersection during light and heavy traffic (post baseball game). Light traffic is a breeze, heavy traffic can be a challenge but to make the above assertion is ridiculous. No, I won't trust you

That intersection was / is a colossal mess. I think the only way to have made it functional would require the elimination / re-routing of connecting streets. I will admit that the new design is an improvement but still a challenge.

What's the master plan regarding the old table talk pie store / building? It seems that the building is pretty much dilapidated ... don't know why they didn't raze that as well.

The origin of this thread goes back to 2006 and I would have bet that this tower would never have been built just a few short years ago given all the hurdles. I think we're fortunate that we can watch this one go up considering that there is a trend now to significantly scale back with office...

Very quiet thread considering this is most intriguing tower under construction. (imo)

Lovely building but no streetscape.

I was about to write that this project / renovation is so completely blah, lackluster, and then I see the night pic. Ok .,. so *that* is pretty cool.

What is striking in those preceding pics is the mass of people on Main St. Of course, that was before urban sprawl and malls. Today, downtown Worcester is void of people with the possible exception of restaurant activity around Franklin and Front streets.
