Potential Soccer Stadium | Portland peninsula

I thought there was a plan for the mall to add housing all along the surrounding parking lots?

The Casco | 201 Federal Street | Portland

Renaming it and all the criticism is stupid. If that were really an issue - we'd have to rename a ton of rivers, mountains, islands, locations. Are we supposed to completely erase the history of the past in order to be virtuously guilt free? NGL this is effing STUPID.

Skyline & Aerial photos | Portland

Beautiful city. And so many lovely parking lots. Looks ripe for a 20-30+ story tower clad in glass.

Mercy Hospital | 144 State Street | Portland

It blows my mind that anyone on Winter Street [et al.] would balk at this. The remodel of the hospital looks GORGEOUS and the new housing will be attractive. Far better than the parking lot and emergency room entrance. If I had to look out my windows at what was there and what is to come - I'd...

Rock Row (née The Ridge, née Dirigo Plaza) | Westbrook, ME

So basically a month later - still no new activity on the site. This doesn't bode well. So much for that cash infusion?

Are they building something in front of the parking garage (dirt patch), or did they just re-grade the lawn?

    General Portland Discussion

They could really build something significant on this site. It'd be a huge disappointment if a developer stops at a stubby 4-story thing.

Economic & Demographic Trends: Maine & Portland

Apparently there was just an Affordable Housing conference in Portland to address the above. One thing they noted was that UMaine has 3D Printed some homes that are exceeding expectations and are suitable for our climate.

Portland Museum of Art Expansion | Portland

Understood. From an architectural standpoint (thus this forum), I disagree. I fervently dislike the cookie cutter buildings that are going up in Portland. It's as if a second grader took colored blocks and decided "sure, this works!". None of them will age well, which lends to my previously...

Portland Museum of Art Expansion | Portland

Am I really the only one who thinks the Toshiko Mori is ugly as hell? It doesn't fit in Portland and won't age well. Architecturally speaking, "saw tooth" is a hard no. Waves? Yeah, no. Might as well just stick the "Tracing the Fore" sculpture on top. It'll be just as hideous. The museum...

Portland Museum of Art Expansion | Portland

Yeah ... sorry, I hate the "Saw-Tooth" factory-esque roof. Seemed like the design included a lot of waste and the windows would cause light and heat issues that would affect any art exhibited there.

Westbrook Infill and Small Developments | ME

Drove by and saw the entire wooded area has been cleared. Looks like it's moving forward. Much needed and good location.

I couldn't find the thread on Franklyn Arterial, but there's an update: Portland Council hears update on Franklin Street redesign PPH Text: The city plans to apply for federal funding and begin work later this decade on a project that was approved in 2015 in an effort to make the area safer...

Potential Soccer Stadium | Portland peninsula

Let's not forget Kennedy Park and Payson Park. There can always be reconfiguration/consolidation/centralization of Baseball/Softball/Little League Fields and Soccer/Lacrosse/Field Hockey Fields. While Back Cove was torn apart for the storm water tanks, if grass fields are planted on top of...
