Is there anything barring Roux from painting the old B&M Building? I'd rather the building had been demolished, but obviously got some kind of historic landmark attribution. I was thinking it might not look "as bad" if they painted it a solid color ... black, dark blue, bright white, idk ...

Lots of buildings have a past. They don't need to have historical importance to be saved either. I'm not of the Portland mindset that everything should be preserved. Old Chamber of Commerce on Free St? Raze it, I didn't blink. But - Maine (and the US in general) made some pretty stupid...

At this point in history - and given our American love for razing buildings for stupid reasons - I'd think preserving ANYTHING with notable architectural detail would be worth it. It's far better than any of the Lego 80's Eastern European Drab garbage built and proposed all over the place now...

ie: the "Container" store ... or "Crate and Barrel" ... or gray pastels "Lego"

The staggered cladding in the middle portion makes my eyes tweak. WHY?

I remembered that a big portion of the new building will be an overhang with a connector closer to the old factory. So what we truly is just "part" of the beast.

I literally thought: Oh ... so they're stacking shipping containers? The whole thing would look "better" if the "middle sections" of windows aligned with the rest. Stylistically, it's giving me 1980's hotel vibes. If the "brown sections" are wood - those are going to age and discolor over...

This might also be controversial - but everything from 146 Washington Ave through 210 (on that side of the street) should just be removed and rebuilt.

This image makes me wish the Nickelodeon and the Garage could be developed into a tower also. It's just so ugly and a waste of the real estate. The image also makes you wonder what it'd look like if the Portland Square development ever happened. At this point, maybe doubtful? Those proposed...

The Lilac Mall in Rochester NH is being torn down also. Makes me also think of the Auburn Mall, which is desolate and sad. South Portland has so much growth potential with a new vision of the Mall area.
