I hear ya on a personal basis, but it didn't close - - it moved. Given that area of Newton Centre, I'd venture to guess the cash flow is quite good and they're looking to grow.

Wow - that last pic says its moving to 28 Langley Road in Newton - - if I'm not mistaken, that's on the other side of Piccadilly Square in the former CVS next to Johnny's Luncheonette! Easy access to folks using the Green Line. Also may say alot about demographic shifts...

Those are prize-worthy pics!!!! What I love about them is that they capture long-distance, yet don't make the buildings in the distance look fuzzy, shorter and fattter - - they capture the ACTUAL proportions of the skyline. No distortions. Magnificent (y)

I love it too. But there are surprisingly several other really great urbanizing projects under or just about to come online - - - this Met Warehouse is one (with the tremendous PUBLIC benefits of the transparent window sections and the open ivite to the public to access the academic corridors)...

Absolutely. And that family is also free to experience the financial loss in market value on that house (or, really, their children will absorb the loss in market value) in not taking the original deal from the YMCA, before it envelopes that home in a much larger and busier surrounding. But...

I'm excited for the neighborhood there. It will allow folks to congregate and socialize in that type of setting without having to go down (not that far, of course) to Huntington or cross the street to the Pru. Plus, empty storefronts are just depressing.
