They could use the Pittsfield line which was the original plan. The speed might be slow in spots but the tracks are still in use and i'm sure Housatonic Railroad would be happy to host them.

Why not just build a branch off the Orange Line. A Green line extension would require a harbor tunnel to reach Charlestown or an expensive viaduct addon near Lechmere which would have to deal with I-93 , commuter rail tracks + the Orange Line. I would branch off before Community College with...

They recently had a mini building boom in Wooster Square near the state street station.

Norwalk has done a good job , all thats missing is the restoration of old Wall Street Station which is in Downtown Norwalk.
