North End Piazza on The Greenway | 198 Hanover Street | North End

I seriously want to puke when I see this building. There could have easily been two more floors added for much needed housing. Plus, the footprint of the building could have been expanded out into the plaza in front, still maintaining a wide sidewalk, but not so needlessly wide as it is now...

    Weston infill and small developments

Yeah, my younger son and his wife live in central Baltimore, and he does say there's a lot of crime, but that it has improved a bit in the last couple of years. We always meet him outside of Baltimore when we visit.

North End Piazza on The Greenway | 198 Hanover Street | North End

It's the physical and political context of the 2-story building that is jarring, not the building itself. It is, after all, located in the urban core and surrounded by buildings a couple of stories higher. The only reason it was built so short is to appease the complaints about loss of views...

North End Piazza on The Greenway | 198 Hanover Street | North End

I think that's just the color of the plywood, which hopefully will be covered with a more attractive facia.

Postmodernism deserves a little love too!

At its best, the style of the '80s/'90s light PoMo office park aesthetic to me is an offshoot of mid-century modern, which is a good thing, as I generally love mid-century modern. The problem I see with much of the the '80s/'90s light PoMo office park aesthetic is not so much the buildings...

Photo of the Day, Boston Style: Part XX (2026)

The MBTA should just 3rd rail the entire BL. The NYC subway system surface line out to Rockaway Beach (next to the Atlantic Ocean) is all 3rd rail. So the argument that the BL has to be catenary because it's near the ocean is not really valid.

Transit Planning $h!tposting (Ideas so bad, they're good)

That's an intriguing idea. I would add a stop at the Charles River Esplanade for a transfer to a BLX line to Kenmore (via Charles). Also, the to-be abandoned Orange Line through Downtown and Charlestown could be repurposed as a Green Line to Nubian Sq to the south and to Everett/Chelsea to the...

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

"A net increase in parking" will be provided in the project. Yup, gotta have that parking. Forget the bus lanes, but that parking is sacrosanct. There weren't any proposed cross-sections provided in the write-up, but I do really hope that continuous (no gaps) center bus lanes are still in...

Ha ha, the reflections looks like a Frank Gehry building (which is a good thing!).

Orange Line Extension to Roslindale/West Roxbury

Basically I changed my mind based on the funding options presented on here. I've been known to do that a few times.

Orange Line Extension to Roslindale/West Roxbury

I'm not a fan of tolling interstate highways. It would add a cost burden to shipping as well as impact working people. Besides, even if the tolls were supposedly earmarked for transit projects only, somehow the revenues would bleed off into other politically motivated uses. I like the other...

    Your "Other" Hobbies

My grandkids (ages 4, 9, and 11) would love those!

Orange Line Extension to Roslindale/West Roxbury

If a funding shortfall is the problem, then just toll I-93 from Woburn to Braintree and get it over with. The Massachusetts political delegation needs to lobby the heck out of Congress to change the law which currently prohibits it. Multiple metro areas across the country are extending their...

    Milton infill and small development

I really wish, in an alternative reality with unlimited funds, for this stretch of I-93 to be lowered, and then covered with a parkway similar to the Big Dig in Boston.

    MBTA Construction Projects

Its part of the MBTA wellness program, to encourage physical fitness of the public through stair climbing. :)

    Milton infill and small development

Looks like a sound wall would be needed along the edge of I-93.

    Salem MA Developments

All good points, but the layout and design are the most mundane and style-less I've seen in a long time, resembling giant conex shipping containers plopped down on an empty lot. Looks like it was totally designed by AI.

Regional New England Rail (Amtrak & State DOT & NEC)

Greenfield's a great town, with great bones and a lot of potential. Hope to see the longer platforms added soon.

EMS Ambulance Station | 34 Drydock Ave | Parcel Z1 | Marine Industrial Park

I like it a I like it a lot. The staggered repeated shapes remind me of the Sydney Opera House.

The whole layout, and the buildings themselves, are ugly as sin.
