No. They want to outsource the problem - as they always have. Until voters make adequately funding transit a real issue - it'll last like this forever.

Alewife T Station, Garage, Bus, & Trails

If you look at the "bones" of Alewife - it's actually a fairly positive and good representation in the late 1970s and 80s of the ripples out from the modernist movements in earlier decades. I appreciate it - but - it was never going to last once Weld local and Reagan nationally came into power...

excited for the T's automated enforcement to start kicking in. Hope the Globe follows-up after Stephanie Barbosa can't renew her registration.

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

The truth is that state pols don't want working, fast, and affordable transit. They're happy to have ribbon cuttings and flashy news stories, but, they don't do that. Unless we can get service and operations to be a flashy news story - "new bus line" or something like that. They just can't be arsed.

Idea for fixing the housing shortage

I doubt that it would be a subtotal - however - one should be able to back-in to that number from total construction costs to give a sense of why 6 to 15 or 19 story buildings "pencil" in 50% of the rest of the world (and nearly 100% of our Global northern peers) but it doesn't here.

Idea for fixing the housing shortage

But there should be some difference in construction price where that pencils out on a spreadsheet, no? For purchase housing would mean that the condo owner is mortgaging both the cost of the shell and the interior outfitting - regardless. It can't be that offloading the outfitting to the...

Idea for fixing the housing shortage

Is there a difference to US concrete and steel that makes it that much more expensive? It seems like US-influenced East Asia and Western Europe all do concrete at the 10-12 story height just fine.

Idea for fixing the housing shortage

So, I'm seeing people state that developers are stating that it doesn't make financial sense to build anything other than these two multi-family building types: 4 or 5 over 1 OR 20 story steel residential towers. I don't trust developers - they often make statements that are about the single...

The Elmer Bumpus bridge was built in 1982 - is it because there wasn't a good crossing over the tracks there historically?

    MBTA Construction Projects

It doesn't look like a lot of any construction is going on anywhere given the temps, weather, and the holidays as of the last month or so.

Copper Mill Development | Elm Street and Grove Street | Davis Square

This is development wagging the tail. Torono and Vanc can only build this high because affordability has been thrown out the window. They concentrate height near the heaviest polluting streets and near stations (which are almost always on heaviest polluting streets) without upzoning farther...

This is going to be like that Route 27/Route 9 interchange project isn't it? The interchange that will somehow eat all the green space and then need get supercharged into needing to do an eminent domain?

Has any of the news media posted the actual document of agreement? I am curious to know - if not - they really should be FOIAing this.
