I agree. It's sad to see her backslide on this, I thought the overwhelming victory would have been a sign to keep pushing forward.

There might be a more recent article, but "community feedback" is why there aren't any bike lanes on Charles Street. https://mass.streetsblog.org/2021/05/24/brahmin-bikelash-the-inside-story-of-why-there-are-still-no-bike-lanes-in-beacon-hill...

Maybe the city is concerned with running out of space to pile the snow? Now that the Seaport isn't just one big parking lot, I'm guessing they lost out on a pretty big dumping area.

    New England Electrical Grid

I'm not sure how cost effective solar would be during a winter storm, or if we'd be able to have enough battery storage to ride out the worst of it. California is making great use of it though, here's a snip from Jan 26th's grid mix. During that storm we had very little solar or wind production...

The federal government is trying to slash some of the permitting requirements for nuclear. And the governor's energy bill will remove the statewide referendum requirement to operate a new plant in MA. Hopefully this leads to a nuclear resurgence...

Idea for fixing the housing shortage

And they define a bus station as "Bus Station”, a building located at the intersection of two or more bus lines, within which services are available to bus passengers; provided that a bus station does not include a shelter or other structure without walls and a foundation."

I agree. This project seems like it ignored the other work happening on Memorial Drive further west.

I wish we had more nuclear. Look at that consistency! https://www.gridstatus.io/live/isone?date=2026-01-25

Should this overpass project get it's own thread?

WOW that's bad. Keeping the 4 lane overpass is very short sited. Seems like MassDOT is just ignoring what the DCR is actively building right now further west on Mem Drive.

I can't find the meeting slides or video recording, but I saw some screenshots of the proposal. Wow what a disappointment, I thought MassDOT would have been better than DCR at something like this.

Thanks for sharing! I can't attend the meeting, but I'll for sure write a comment to the DCR and to my state reps.

MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

The best my work will do is the pre-tax pass. I don't use the CR enough to justify even that, but if they covered a bit more than pre-tax I'd consider using it more.

I think the T needs some environmental permit from a Reading environmental board.

I agree. It's crazy that Brookline wants 3 lanes of parking (2 curbside parallel parking, and the angled back-in parking) right next to the Green Line. Probably some of the best transit access in the state here and they want a super car centric design. Removing that angled parking would really...

    Biking in Boston

I like the separated bike lanes, I'm a bit worried the path is going to get too crowded like the SW Corridor or along the river. I think that bike lane could be extended a bit further if Brookline wanted to give up some parking. I'm not sure what the traffic volumes are like, but getting rid of...
