EMS Ambulance Station | 34 Drydock Ave | Parcel Z1 | Marine Industrial Park

I like it a I like it a lot. The staggered repeated shapes remind me of the Sydney Opera House.

    Salem MA Developments

The whole layout, and the buildings themselves, are ugly as sin.

Flickr Finds & Social Media Pics

Great shot. From that angle, there's not as much of a gap in the high spine.

If You Were God/Goddess | Transit & Infrastructure Sandbox

Not a bad idea IF the pubic swimming pool at Magazine Beach is replaced with a new one in the same neighborhood on the Cambridge side.

    Extend the Rose Kennedy Greenway

Davem did that one, and it was genius at the time. Like you said, some of the key parcels that would have maximized the building of high rise residential on the solid ground freed up my moving the roadways inward (as davem showed), have been developed since davem's plan. But as I showed in my...

    Extend the Rose Kennedy Greenway

Here's a quick and dirty layout of what I have in mind. The orange is high rise residential, the yellow mid-rise, the green is new parks, and the grey/red are relocated roadways:

    Extend the Rose Kennedy Greenway

A few high-rise residential might still be intermittently placed along the north and/or south edges of the corridor on solid ground if the frontage roads were moved over toward the center of the corridor, over the Mass Pike and/or railroad. The moving of the frontage roads was an idea from...

If You Were God/Goddess | Transit & Infrastructure Sandbox

I would locate all parking on the mainland, and have a fixed-rail people mover system from there to access the air terminals out on the new island. Also a sea wall and perhaps a regular rail transit line spanning Boston Harbor, tied into the Urban Ring line via the Logan Airport site. And of...

If You Were God/Goddess | Transit & Infrastructure Sandbox

Middlesex County Courthouse Redevelopment | 40 Thorndike St | East Cambridge

It's right next to East Cambridge's large residential area, so for that reason I think it would be great for a full residential conversion.

Union Square Somerville Infill and Small Developments

Oh boy, a "smart" toilet for only $13,000. I'll order one right away!

    "Dirty Old Boston"

North Station train tracks reduced, and the West End demolition, circa 1960?

    Laconia, NH

Heres a painting by Arch McDonnell of the Laconia RR depot back in its steam train heyday. The downtown appears very active as well, with a city bus sytem accessing the depot.

    "Dirty Old Boston"

Hundreds of people have said this same thing on aB over the years, but I love the density! Its a work of art.

Photo of the Day, Boston Style: Part XX (2026)

What are they doing to the old Northern Ave Bridge (last photo)?. It looks like a trash heap.

City Hall Discussion - Redevelopment - Preservation - Relocation

Great photo of a handsome building. In its proper place, probably in a suburban setting somewhere, it would be okay. But its innate bizarreness, plus the plaza ripping a huge soulless hole in the heart of the city core, is an abomination, IMO.

    Proposed watertown ferry

That will be a very big "oops" if they flunk out on the approval.
