    Platform screen doors.

Thanks for 3-day old news. The guy was "unsteady on his feet" (wasted) and it was 1am. The Red Line isn't "haunted." It's a sad and unfortunate event, but get your story straight.

Motor Mart Tower | 201 Stuart Str. | Park Sq | Boston

The core three-story art deco headhouse and copper-sheathed platforms *were* built. the 14-story tower wasn't for the reasons you outlined. the crash of '29 didn't immediately impact planning pipelines (and then, obviously, it did). BERy and others wouldn't know that at the time of the proposal...

Motor Mart Tower | 201 Stuart Str. | Park Sq | Boston

I don't mind the 2019 proposal at all -- I just take issue with the "tower" nonsense. Also agree that a well-executed art deco tower would be preferable, especially one with a distinctive crown or even a spire (a spire?!?! in Boston??!).

Motor Mart Tower | 201 Stuart Str. | Park Sq | Boston

I'm sure whatever they eventually do with this property won't be like the 2019 proposal, but it always astounds me when a 20-story structure would ever be referred to as a "tower." Any other city in the world would just consider a 20-story residential building a... building.

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Aperol Spritz waterfront Boston in a Ritz-branded buidling: $20-25 for sure.

North End Piazza on The Greenway | 198 Hanover Street | North End

Awnings, non-monochrome signage, actual balconies -- none of this is terribly difficult. These people shat the bed bigtime. If the original iteration of Hotel Commonwealth (aka Hotel Cheesecake Factory) was enough to prompt the city to take action, this stupid "piazza" should be, as well.

    The New Residential Conversion Thread

That's ^^^ fantastic news. It feels like Chinatown is in a very precarious spot these days.

Yeah, but it's better than... uh... um...

Copley Square Revamp | Back Bay

I stand (sit) corrected -- as I did a few weeks ago when your points were made by another. *My* point is that the area in between Trinity, the BPL, the hotel, etc. has never historically been a "park" (lush expanses of grass, tons of trees) in any way.

Mixed Use (40B Fmr Star Market) | 299 Broadway | Winter Hill | Somerville

Slowly getting taller and wider with the Western part of the complex nearlhy about to join the Eastern in going vertical. These may not be especially sexy pix (and I can absolutely stop posting pix if it's just coming off as clutter) and the end-result won't be sexy, either, but it's so nice to...

Copley Square Revamp | Back Bay

fair enough. can we all agree that the stretch of dartmouth in front of BPL should be removed/pedestrianized?

Copley Square Revamp | Back Bay

again, i've been living or going to school or working near copley since the '90s. it's not less used than it ever was. if you hate the redesign that's totally valid and fine and i have no dog in the fight. the previous version was falling apart, muddy, trees dying. this version is (imho) an...

Copley Square Revamp | Back Bay

it is often used, but hate away.

Copley Square Revamp | Back Bay

Agree to respectfully disagree. This area was never meant for a true "park." I've spent many afternoons and early evenings in the new plaza -- having a bite, catching up on emails, texting, reading books -- since it debuted. Great area to do all that. I'm there most weekday afternoons. Trust me...

Copley Square Revamp | Back Bay

It's pretty clear what constitues a "park" and a "plaza." Though I'm enjoying the debate. Feel free to educate me with scribbled-over MS Paint commentary -- is this a park? It never was a park. For a while there it had park-like elements that ultimately were so destructive and disastrous it...
