    Failed Development Projects | Portland

Are you sure about the TP parking garage? It was still in the last plan I saw online.

And no one has brought up Eastern Point yet!

    Failed Development Projects | Portland

The Village isn't that far off of what was actually built.

    Failed Development Projects | Portland

OK, from the Portland, Maine History Facebook group, the original Lincoln Square pics that were originally gotten from this forum (Somewhere...) The original proposal, with a max height of 330 ft (which would have been the tallest building north of Boston): The revised proposal, max height...

Economic & Demographic Trends: Maine & Portland

A lot of the recent growth in Portland has been $500k+ condos (with over a million not unheard of), and I can guarantee that virtually no one with that kind of money is going to be staring at the Berlin Mills Wharf in February. So I think, if not retirees, the new housing is going to be owned...

    New Ideas for the Site

I'd like to suggest a "Next unread thread" link at the bottom of thread pages, which would go to "last unread post in the most recently updated unread thread in the current forum". I've been on other forums that have this and it's quite useful. If we have similar functionality in place and I...

    Portland Square Redevelopment | Portland

OK, I knew about that, I just saw "redevelopment" and was perplexed. Thanks!

    Failed Development Projects | Portland

I believe that's the later Boulos project; the amazing Portland History group on Facebook has the original pics of Lincoln Square and I think even the Federal Street tower (old jail site, now the courthouse expansion). There was also a waterfront study the city had done in the 80's by the group...

Outside amenities side, do you feel that the actual USM education is worth the premium you're paying over your state school?

A decade or so ago, a young woman I know who was a senior looking at colleges came and took the tours of Gorham and Portland. The biggest thing she took away was the student tour guide in Gorham pointing out one building and saying, "that's our chem-free dorm; that just means you have to hide...

    Cotton Street Development | Portland

The big thing I really don't like in this is the idea of moving the John Ford statue to an island in the middle of the intersection.

    Canal Plaza Tower | Portland

The most-recent plan idea for height in Portland was to allow the greatest heights along Congress St. at the height of the peninsula, and step down as you went towards the water on either side, and to allow additional height if you stepped back from Congress as you went up (to keep Congress from...

Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

Maybe if we do that, we'll stop jinxing new construction! The only specific projects that have gotten their own forums since I've been here are Midtown and Thompson's Point, and we've seen how much they've built :-/ Also, @Corey , if you haven't looked at the New Dawn thread in the Issues and...

Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

Most of that land hasn't seen any real use since the Freedom Train. I know Portland Trails has wanted to run a trail through there that would connect the Fore River Parkway trail to the waterfront and leverage the Clark St. tunnel, but I imagine it would be easy enough to leave room for that.

Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

Yes, and as someone repeatedly pointed out in the Press Herald comments, it's taller than the original Midtown proposal.

Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

Ah... My mistake, I didn't double check and confused "Markos" with "Munro".

Portland, ME - New Construction Continued

Is there anything more ludicrous than to have Markos Miller's name front and center on that group?
