Rock Row (née The Ridge, née Dirigo Plaza) | Westbrook, ME

They definitely seem to have overrun the retail section to the south of the railroad (the "Metro transit hub" and the buildings immediately below it in the pic I posted). Pretty much all the cool stuff from the website has always been crammed into the Phase 2 area, though.

That's awesome about the seagull chicks! ISTR they usually nest on barren rocks out in the middle of the ocean.

I'm guessing the separate LLC's are finance-related, making the investments individual pure-plays as opposed to a big giant blob. You're right. :)

Upon further review, I wonder if this switch may have been made to ensure the amphitheater isn't too close to the Portland city limit.

Here's the image that's on their website. The residences have indeed moved onto the convention center spot; hopefully someone will ask the question tonight. CLT tower, all the cool stuff and (hopefully) the movie theater remain in the Phase 2 area (currently the parking lot). Also, the last...

Thanks! Yeah, it does look tight and twisty; we'll see how it turns out.

Wex changed their logo and are updating the signage.

Maine Medical Center Expansion | Portland

I was just looking at the images again, and started wondering about how tight and twisty that vehicle entry off Congress appears to be. That sent me to the City's website to look at the plans, and those aren't on the Self Service portal, which in turn got me to looking for the Planning Board...

    Portland International Jetport | PWM

My family and I flew out of LHR last month. Our plane was at a "remote gate," and most passengers took a bus and climbed the old-school stairs to board the plane. However, we have a family member who uses a wheelchair so that was out of the question for us. For that case, the airport had a...

Those Delta planes aren't waiting to unload passengers, are they? From Portlander's comment it sounds like they are empties that came in the night before waiting for later slots, in which case their being parked over there doesn't bother me. In fact, if the Jetport gets to charge them for...

If only you had suggested it before they built the new VA clinic....

And, as we discussed on another site, there are few if any meaningful improvements that are even possible at Yard 8 due to the small site and being hemmed in by PYS.

Money. The state doesn't have the money to fund the system adequately now, let alone to build the facilities USM would need. And consolidating the distributed system we have now (UMF, UMM, UMPI and UMFK included) has proven to be a political third rail.

I think the idea of the brick street wall came to the forefront when the Courtyard hotel did it so well, making certain people doubt the CIEE / Old Port Sea Bass building in retrospect. Also, I'm not sure there even was a historic district in place when that was built, AND the spot it was in...

    Bangor, Maine

That looks incredible! And, it's been a few years since I went up for a concert, but I'd say that, while the tile work is indeed impressive, I'm more impressed by the arrival of actual restrooms, period!

    Portland International Jetport | PWM

Excellent set of photos! Now if they could just find something to do with that enormous dead space that is the old ticketing hall. Or (since I just got back from London), that's slated to become an enormous Duty-Free shopping zone once the International section is set up. (Really, between...

    Portland International Jetport | PWM

I should add: my grandparents lived for many years on Fenway St., in the Congress Terrace (Hobart St.) neighborhood, directly across the river from the Jetport. I can only imagine what the noise must have been like there while the main runway was out of use with modern jets (it was pretty loud...

201 Federal Street | Residential Tower | Portland

There is actually an overlay for taller buildings along Congress St., so long as they step back so as not to create a steep-walled canyon. But, most of that overlay is in the historic district (not going to redevelop the JB Brown block any time soon), by the time it was enacted the 80's...

Yellowbirds! Here's a blast from the past: that concrete porch had "Kiddie Stands" we could stand on to watch the planes! They were little platforms that were a couple steps up from the floor and gave us a little elevation over the adults walking across the tarmac. Oh, for the days when anyone...
