Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

Agreed. The only caveat (to me, anyway) would be if Delta saw some value in Boston as a Delta/Skyteam connection point for Europe-Hawaii passengers in addition to the local market. But I doubt it since the same connecting options exist via their hubs ATL, DTW, JFK, MSP, LAX, SEA, and SLC.

Davis Square Lab | 231-249 Elm Street and Grove Street | Somerville

Begrudgingly, I admit it could mark a significant aesthetic improvement for the block. The preservation of the entire Burren space (not just the facade) is the obvious win. But it also looks like the space built on top of the Burren will be set back from the street (hopefully enough so that it...

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

I have no idea. It'll be interesting to see who the pick ends up being. Considering the current state of the T, I would guess Healey would want to go with someone new (maybe someone who has overseen a highly regarded system somewhere else) rather than someone who has been in the MassDOT seat...

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

Oh absolutely, and he knows it. The Gov appoints the Secretary of Transportation and the Secretary will spearhead senior leadership changes (with the approval of the Governor, of course). The more troubled the agency, the deeper the changes usually go. Given the shitstorm the next administration...

Harvard Enterprise Research Campus | 100 Western Avenue | Allston

As you say, there are definitely some singular elements worthy of criticism. But the neighborhood is far more active and vibrant than I ever would have guessed it would be while watching it go up box by box over the last decade or so. I enjoy spending time there and there's no denying it's a...

    Rose Kennedy Greenway

Nice, it looks good. It'll be a pleasant place to stroll through on your way to somewhere else. Maybe after the vegetation fills in a bit it'll create a sense of separation from the road noise and entice people to stop and sit.

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

It looks like the the only bike lane is on the left and it expands into a two-way bike path for a short stretch (forcing the road to shift like that) where the Community Path needs briefly share the road before crossing the street to continue on along the GLX corridor. Assuming there is some...

    General Infrastructure

This has been my experience for the most part as well. There are some "superblocks" in the city where in the past I'd wait for breaks in the traffic and just quickly jaywalk across. Over the past year or so, I've had more cars stop for me and wave me across when they absolutely didn't have to -...

Great shots, @atlantaden ! I love the red too, and I can't get over how visible it is from anywhere on the waterfront downtown and in the Seaport. I'm happy to see the A380 back at BOS too. There was a chunk of time where I didn't think we would.

Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

Realistically, it's probably a combination of several factors. Demand might still be softer than they want for their launch. Chartering is hardly ideal if your marketing centers on the hard product at competitive prices. It's even less ideal if you're flying an A330-200 on the route with surging...

Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

I think the two biggest limiting factors are JetBlue's fleet and the lack of a major alliance. They've done a good job of creating strategic partnerships, but they're still nowhere close to the reach and simplicity of SkyTeam (or Star Alliance and Oneworld). And while they may be able to make...

Parcel 12 | Massachusetts Avenue at Boylston Street | Back Bay

I know it's been said repeatedly here, but I'm amazed at how prominent this is from multiple angles. We walked from MFA to Fenway last night and it really juts above the surroundings.

The airport impacting the numbers makes a lot of sense. Prior to moving to East Boston, we lived in Somerville for 4 years. It’s really hard to imagine Somerville being denser than Eastie. Both are certainly dense, but Eastie feels a good deal more tightly packed to me. Particularly Eagle Hill...

Hope Point Tower (Fane) | 250 Dyer Street | Providence

I love this quote from the chair of the 195 Commission: “We were somewhat troubled by his reaction to the pandemic, when you contrast it to the other developers with whom we’re dealing,” Davis said of Fane last fall. “They never wavered.” First, I’m not 100% sure if he means that Fane never...

This one is definitely underway. They've moved the taxi stand over over to Henry St. added additional construction fencing and tarp, created a temporary sidewalk where the cab stand was, and they've got an excavator on site tearing up the lot. The BPDA website has been changed to "under...

    North Washington St Bridge

Not to drift too far from the debacle with the bridge construction, but does anyone know how long the N. Washington/LoveJoy Wharf stairs have been open? When I stopped at Night Shift last summer, they were still closed. I just happened to notice during some b-roll footage prior to a Celtics game...

Logan Airport Flights and Airlines Discussion

My understanding was that all Montrose/Telluride service is toast, not just Boston. Is that accurate? The YVR loss is unfortunate, but understandable considering what they're experiencing. SJC isn't a shocker considering their presence in elsewhere in that market combined with the lagging demand...
