FWIW I used the Ignore function on the commenter in question a while back and it has greatly improved my forum experience

MBTA Red Line / Blue Line Connector

I noticed that MBTA just updated their Red-Blue connector page and it looks like according to their environmental justice screening form, they anticipate filing with MEPA on Oct 2, 2023. https://cdn.mbta.com/sites/default/files/2023-7-24-ej-screening-form-english.pdf According to their 2021...

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

I think you are both right. The conditions on the ground when I ride the T are never as bad as one would think if they just followed this board, transit twitter, etc. That being said, I don't think "suck it up and be grateful for what we have" is quite correct either--"Suck it up and be...

The new station won't be completed until 2030 but the story also says they are building a temporary platform that will take 12-18 months. I took that to mean they will presumably be able to restart service in 2024 or 2025? The way it's written is not clear and I am not familiar with this project.

New Red and Orange Line Cars

NETransit Roster now lists 84 new orange line cars, up from 78, and there were 11 new sets active this morning, so it seems there has been progress. Would be nice if red line could move up from the 10 cars!

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Agreed, but just to be clear I believe the old waiting room still exists. It is just the Amtrak lounge now. The yelp page actually has some nice pictures and you can see the ceiling details and arches. https://www.yelp.com/biz/amtrak-metropolitan-lounge-boston-2

MBTA Commuter Rail (Operations, Keolis, & Short Term)

This is exactly why they are putting fare gates at North Station (already active apparently), South Station, and Back Bay-- you will not be able to exit the station without a valid ticket or pass. Theoretically you will still need to have your zone checked by a conductor but I doubt that will...

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

Right. They deliver infrequent, inconsistent, downright dangerous service, ridership suffers, they use poor ridership numbers to justify further service cuts and then shrug and blame covid like all of this is out of their hands. No sign of anything getting better, just continuously worse news...

The 21 does not include the loaned dispatchers; with the loaned the total is 26. And there are 3 in training, not 1. See slide 8 of the GM report

Transit app does this for Boston and many other cities and so is very helpful in my experience https://transitapp.com/

MBTA Fare System (Charlie, AFC 2.0, Zone, Discounts)

If by customer service you mean the service center at DTX, usually they can transfer your balance onto a new charlie card no problem so you don't lose the value. If you are referring to the redcoats posted in the stations--agree; they are worse than useless

That is the plan! See below screenshotted from project page

Raffles Boston (40 Trinity Place) | 426 Stuart Street | Back Bay

"Now, Raffles will bypass the major metropolises and luxury hotel scenes of Los Angeles, New York, Chicago and Miami to instead open its first North American location in Boston, the land of the Pilgrims and birthplace of Dunkin’ Donuts." keep it classy NY post

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

Yes it's long past time for something like this in Longwood and I hope it's permanent, but as can be seen in the twitter pictures above it has resulted in even longer car lines. Of course this is confounded by the D branch closure which has in itself worsened car traffic, and should...

    MBTA Construction Projects

I'm not sure it is quite a 5 week total shutdown; the service alert on that page is worded this way: It sounds to me like three separate 9-day shutdowns? not sure if that's much better

    MBTA Construction Projects

According to the link posted above, they state 1 week:

We are 21 days through the 30 day shutdown = 70% I wouldn't read too much into the numbers they publicize

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

This is what KILLS me. The MBTA has no standard for what acceptable service is, so as long as a train is technically on the tracks and going >1 mph, hey, that's service! I am hoping for a long, multi-year period of stringent FTA oversight to force the MBTA into becoming a real transit agency.

MBTA Fare System (Charlie, AFC 2.0, Zone, Discounts)

I imagine they will work like they do at major train stations e.g. in the UK. They just validate that you have a ticket and basically trust that you bought the appropriate destination. You also have to scan your ticket to exit the station so it works both in/outbound to at least guarantee people...
