    General Boston Discussion

Well certainly there are literally 1,000s of potential building sites in Boston proper that could be used for publically-built housing, especially with the State's powers of eminent domain. I would hope that the model used is better than, say, the Symphony-Towers style of design on Mass. Ave...

    General Boston Discussion

Really? Public Housing to be built by the State? Why? I don't accept that it is the Taxpayers' responsibility to provide housing. I believe that the population should be self-sustaining and provide for its own food, clothing & shelter. Of course there are exceptions for mentally ill homeless...

Thank God for "rich people"! If it wasn't for them I wouldn't have had a good job the past 40 years in real estate development. it allowed me to feed my family, pay LOTS of taxes so others could collect their welfare checks.

    Chinatown - Progress or Gentrification?

Yes I agree for sure. Also, the soundproofing between partitions is better because the drywall is tight to the flat concrete versus having to cope around the steel shapes between units.

Not sure what Pierce was or who did it. MT was cast-in-place concrete, same as One & 30 Dalton. S & F Concrete did MT, did a fine job. G & C Concrete did 30 Dalton & is doing One Dalton. They did an impressive job on the 30 Dalton schedule: 28 floors in 20 weeks!

of the 3 sides of this trangular foundation footprint, the only part that is a secant wall for earth retention and water cutoff only is the side up against 101 Belvidere. All the LBEs, balance of the perimeter and the interior columns are all slurrywall.

No. They installed the LBEs using the same slurrywall method that they used for the perimeter earth retention/water cutoff walls. They excavated for all slurrywall & LBEs from grade. After completion of all slurrywall & LBEs they began excavating to below the bottom of the lowest slab, say 3 1/2...
