Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

I have heard very much unofficially that the T is planning to do future work that will allow trains to travel at 40mph through that section.

    Grounding the McGrath

I didn't look through that doc, but any chance that's for the actual grounding project as opposed to the resurfacing (which I understand is underway now).

    Crazy Transit Pitches

This is an interesting idea. In my opinion ideally this is done with green rolling stock (and the corresponding bridge upgrades on the existing Mattapan line), with a connection to the green line as well. From a ridership perspective Centre Street to Huntington Ave to Heath St would be ideal...

Multi-Family Zoning Requirements for MBTA Communities

One thing to note with this law is that it doesn't require communities to actually build the housing, just zone it such that it could be built. I bet the orchard is large enough that it could satisfy the requirements alone with rezoning.

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

My understanding is that there will be around 250 parking spaces in the Union Square development that will be available to the public. Personally, I don't think we should be encouraging any cars to come into an area as dense as Union Square will be just to park, but it will be an option.

    Crazy Transit Pitches

If you want to go full crazy transit pitch, could you have a LRT eat SL1? Basically extend the SL tunnel with a cut and cover through the parking lot near SL way and under congress st, into a new tunnel across the harbor, landing near the ferry terminal. Street run (in dedicated bus/train)...

If You Were God/Goddess | Transit & Infrastructure Sandbox

I think MassPort has a proposal for a People Mover that would largely replace the Blue Line Shuttle. Unfortunately for funding reasons (I think) it actually would be a shared stop between a parking garage and the blue line, so a bit longer walk to the blue line than is ideal.

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

This headhouse connects at the bridge, but the other headhouse on "inbound" side of the station connects to the community path.

    Somerville Infill and Small Developments

As RandomWalk said, If it's in an MR4 (or higher) district, it's pretty easy to build a by-right 40 unit building with minimal approval process.

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

I do think the GLX project team/MBTA could have done much better job messaging the time frames of these closures. This is still posted on the GLX Project website: If the best case scenario is an October re-opening of Science Park/Lechmere, the MBTA really should have updated this closure...

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

I imagine there will be a solid decade of "Reasonable Transit Pitches" category improvements to these stations improving access to the surrounding areas. Hopefully some development projects will include funds for some of these entrance improvements. For example, I've heard a rumor of an...

SAV-MOR Site Lab Building | 15 McGrath Highway | Somerville

My understanding is that given that this is a High Rise District, Lab/Research & Development uses are allowed by right, with no permit required for that use. However, I definitely don't understand the process 100%.

Fall River/New Bedford Commuter Rail (South Coast Rail)

Fall River => Providence would require complicated new bridges/tunnel across either the Taunton River or Narragansett Bay, both of which are navigable waterways (so bridges can't impede marine traffic). I think you'd be far better off going up the existing proposed SCR route to Taunton, and...
