Looks like the Armory site could potentially be considered for redevelopment. Keep our fingers crossed:

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

It’s hard to think of any project that can be as transformative and would use funds as efficiently as commuter rail electrification.

Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

It’s a very interesting question whether NSRL or Urban Ring should be built first, given that it seems unlikely that resources to construct both would be made available in our lifetimes. On one hand, the fragility and lack of transfer points outside of downtown of the current rapid transit...

Have seen that, hopefully construction can begin sooner rather than later. The connection over the tracks to South Commercial could be particularly helpful for residential. It would provide easy access to the river, which would help give that area some walking appeal. That, and with the...

    Manchester Infill & Small Developments

Crazy. In an ideal world, Michael’s would get redeveloped quickly and the vape shop + auto place would be next on the list. That would be a nice start to getting this stretch in a better state. Then it could work its way toward Valley St. Would be nice to see the Murphy’s lot get redeveloped...

    Manchester Infill & Small Developments

Looking at the listing, Elm Street Auto and Granite State Fruit are not part of the parcel for sale. Hopefully a potential buyer can negotiate purchase of those properties as well. Otherwise, it would be difficult to see anyone wanting to redevelop with those dumpy properties adjacent to it...

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Could see something like partial dropped ceilings using perforated screening panels directly over the platforms, but leave the areas over the track pits open. Have seen something similar in other stations like Shin Osaka in Japan (also kind of a basic station) and it looks good. Doesn’t N...

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

It would be interesting to know what the ceiling heights of Penn vs South Station are. I suspect that South Station might be a bit higher. IMO it would be a shame this were left completely open. Yes it is a pass-through space, though essentially all transportation facilities are as well...

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

It implies that the finished product could be nothing to be proud of (as barebones as possible). It’s interesting that there are interior images of the bus terminal, but nothing for the platforms. I hope I’m wrong.

South Station Tower | South Station Air Rights | Downtown

Hopefully they’ll install some kind of metal paneling once the all equipment has been installed, would be shame to leave that open. It’s concerning that there haven’t been any renderings released.

Definitely seems like a place ripe with potential. Having grown up in one of the neighboring towns, it’s come a long way since the 90s and seems like it can go quite a bit further still. The abundance of under utilized properties and the layout of the streets presents ample opportunity for...

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

I wonder if adopting practices like the point & call system would be helpful? It’s used in transportation agencies throughout Japan and other places as well. It helps focus attention, and in vehicles where there are cameras in the cab it could be used to help evaluate operator attentiveness...

    Manchester Infill & Small Developments

Manch seems to be doing a great job with infill lately with several hundred units of housing to come online in the next few years. Should make downtown pretty lively with so many new residents. The former Michael’s lot is a tremendous eyesore in a prominent location. Let’s hope for the best...

General MBTA Topics (Multi Modal, Budget, MassDOT)

Another thing that’s incredible is the poor state of RL Alewife-Harvard both directions. After 10 years of off & on weekend diversions for the Floating Slab project, where are the results? Or are we just “lucky” it runs at all.

    Unbuilt Highways in Massachusetts

The F.E.E.T. widening seems like a rather wasteful project. Aside from the induced demand aspect of it, it’s not like current conditions are that bad. It can get slightly busy at times, but certainly less so than most highways in Eastern MA. Just like NH’s recently completed absurd widening...
