Regional Rail (RUR) & North-South Rail Link (NSRL)

climate change impacts everything and so it should in fact be factored into all design decisions. This argument is needlessly hostile to any mention of climate change. All emissions drive climate change and if trains can become even more efficient it makes a mode shift argument easier. You are...

    Boston in Art

Slightly different than the theme of the thread but not sure where else to put it: The possibility of the commons An art installation on Boston Common features 200 rotating blue boxes posing deceptively simple questions about our shared resources: Who owns the air? Who owns time? Your data?

How about refraining from calling entire groups of people "hostile to urban life"? Why is that not considered name calling? It truly is stunning how the rules of decorum seem to work here: let reactionaries say whatever atrocious nonsense they want but if anyone disagrees at all forcefully...

    Design a Better Franklin Park

Doesn't seem like this was added here but there is a plan to replace Circuit Drive through Franklin Park with a pedestrian and bike connection restoring the loop in the park.

Jamaica Plain Infill and Small Developments

The performance space could be really great for local musicians etc too. I hope it is cool. The building is beautiful. I hope they do a good job on the rehabilitation and renovation.

Forcing people who exist to not exist in a certain area is bad yes. Kicking all the homeless people out is not at all the same thing as addressing the problem of homelessness. Did you read the post I am responding to it even specifically refers to state violence being used to achieve it: Do...

Jamaica Plain Infill and Small Developments

Not really a small development but "Hyde Square Task Force... selected Pennrose as [Church of the Blessed Sacrament's] developer for a mixed-use project, which includes much-needed affordable housing for the area and public performance spaces for artists and youth."

New Red and Orange Line Cars

The biggest benefit of the new trains in terms of ride experience is that they are so much quieter. You can actually talk to people without screaming or listen to music at a healthy volume and be able to hear it.

yeah you highlighted the most likely solution which is that rather than expand the size for the tree, the tree will either be chocked and die or will be chopped when it grows "too much" for the narrow hole. Neither would ever result in type of long term and sizable canopy that makes a beautiful...

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

Thats a product of criminalization to some degree. Easier and faster to do a quick tag than a full piece, easier to spend more time in more inaccessible areas where you are less likely to get the cops called on you, general urge to tag everywhere because your tags keep getting covered up, etc...

New Red and Orange Line Cars

I agree we desperately need new orange line trains but I have to say I sympathize with the aesthetic and comfort complaints. The new seats are considerably less comfortable (I never found the old seats uncomfortable but I do with these) and, while I completely understand not everyone would agree...

Green Line Extension to Medford & Union Sq

There is actually some excellent and interesting street art in the area including these that I was able to partially snap on my last trip on the downeaster which are right on that white building in the picture. There was another great one I unfortunately couldn't get a pic of in time. I...

Can these threads be merged? Not sure why the discussion is continuing here after this was pointed out.

    2021 Boston Mayoral Race

AEG is so blatantly corrupt and will clearly use her office to benefit her slumlord husband, who pretty clearly is helping her campaign under the table.

    Biking in Boston

An interesting article that addresses how the issue of bike-pedestrian crashes (which has come up several times in the thread) is overhyped despite both declining (due to improving bike and pedestrian infrastructure) and being dwarfed by incidents involving motor vehicles and pedestrians.

    MBTA Buses & Infrastructure

From Streetblogs: "Fare-Free 28 Is a Hit With Roxbury, Mattapan Bus Riders: Ridership on the route has surged back to pre-pandemic levels, outperforming the rest of the MBTA bus system" This is promising and shows that free service drives demand (which will make mode shifts to more efficient...
