Re: Suffolk Downs Redevelopment Potential
Revere's classroom shortage should be somewhat alleviated with the opening of the new Hill School next year. And keep in mind by adding more housing you create the vicious circle of having to spend more tax dollars to build even more schools.
What ever happened to the proposal for a new aquarium? IIRC, back in the 90s or maybe late 80s it was proposed that a new aquarium be built in the Charlestown Navy Yard. However, by the time the 2000s came along that seems to have been put on the back burner.
Thanks for the floor plans Mongo.
I'm confused though. All the media reports online state that Primark is going to occupy 70,000 square feet. However, unless my math is off the square footage as shown in the floor plans above add up to over 112,000 sf.
From what I understand this location is...
Does the BF define the types of crime. If you look at the Police logs from publications such as the Back Bay Sun, most of the crimes involve shoplifting or larceny from the Newbury Street retailers. That's probably what's skewing the statistics. I doubt the first two neighborhoods listed...
Maybe I missed it but was the pour for today canceled? I walked by the area on the way to work this morning around 9:15 and didn't see any trucks. Neither did I see any when I passed by again around 4.
Thanks. Thinking Cup is my favorite coffee shop. My only "gripe" is that most of the time it's hard to find a place to sit at their Tremont Street location. Hopefully the new one at Newbury will have more seating space.
While we're on the subject of Newbury Street does anyone know what's going in the space where L'Aroma Cafe used to be? The one next to Georgetown Cupcakes. The only clue is a teaser sign on the window. Something about a locally renowned cafe.
I don't know if this is the right place to ask this but I can't think of anywhere else to ask. Does anyone know what's going on at School Street? For the past 2 days the street has been closed of with digging going on and lots of utility vehicles. Judging by the types of vehicles it appears...
I'm actually surprised there aren't more Staples or office supply stores in the DTX/FIDI section. You would think there would be a need for it with all the offices and businesses in the area.
That reminds me, I remember years ago they used to offer free concerts on Fridays during the lunch hours on the plaza on the Congress Street side. However, they seemed to have stopped sometime around the early 2000s. It would be nice if they could bring them back.
Re: Millennium Tower - Filene's
Whoever told you this was probably referring to one or each of the metro NYC stores EXCEPT FOR the Herald Square location.
Also are you sure the Asians seen in the Boston store aren't from the Chinatown neighborhood just down the street as opposed to tourists?
Re: Filene's
The only thing I would liked to have seen is that with this building with a proposed height of 625ft it would of been nice to have an observation deck at the top or maybe a restaurant or lounge.
This is probably slightly OT but the Revere Journal dated June 27 mentions something about a commuter rail station near Wonderland. "It also provides $500,000 for the
design, siting, and initial permit-
ting for a commuter rail station at
Wonderland Park."

I would say the 80s saw quite a development boom in the downtown area. Projects, including what others have mentioned before, International Place, One Financial Center, Devonshire apartments, Exchange Place, Boston Harbor Hotel, etc.
A quick tour down that area of route one via Google Street View shows plenty of smaller businesses such as gas stations, restaurants, etc. And then there's Lowe's.
