The Casco | 201 Federal Street | Portland

Catherine, any updates on the design of the pocket park? My recollection was that the design would need to be approved prior to issuance of a Certificate of Occupancy, and since people have moved in I'm guess it's been finalized. Anything you can share?

165 Washington Ave | Northern Burner Supply Redevelopment | Portland

Is this the new Redfern project, or different developer?

The Casco | 201 Federal Street | Portland

I'm assuming you mean February 20th. Any chance you might still be able to offer us a tour sometime in Feb/March? Would love to get a peak at the completed project if you can find time in your schedule.

The Casco | 201 Federal Street | Portland

Looks good. Is another tour still on the table for sometime in January for those of us who couldn't make the last one? Also- any updates on the pocket park design?

    Portland International Jetport | PWM

JAX is an interesting destination. I flew into it about 10 years ago for a conference "downtown," and the cab ride took nearly an hour as I recall. The downtown was not very dense, a few tall buildings but very little street level activity. There was a waterfront entertainment venue that was...

The Armature | 52 Hanover St | Portland

These prices are truly stunning. I'm interested to see their leasing success rate. A quick glance at their website seems to show a lot of availability (understanding it may not be up to date). That aside, the building looks immaculate. The actual footprint of the pool is much smaller than...

The Longfellow Hotel | 754 Congress Street | Portland

Making very slow progress on this one. Looks like they've pushed reservations back to March 1, 2024.

Time & Temp Building / Brown St. Parking Garage Redevelopment | Portland

Looks like a new application has been submitted for a proposal to rehab this building. Not much info here, but now it looks like Fathom Companies is involved and the proposal is for residential as well as hotel. Look forward to learning more about this...

    General Portland Discussion

Would be a huge improvement to 509 Forest and kind of reminds me of something you'd see in like Columbus' (OH) "Short North" district, these 2-4 story quasi-modern looking buildings of brick and glass.

The Casco | 201 Federal Street | Portland

I'm interested but unfortunately a previously scheduled appointment won't allow me to be there. Look forward to seeing some photos though! (And fingers crossed Redfern might offer another tour when the building is complete!?!)

Time & Temp Building / Brown St. Parking Garage Redevelopment | Portland

Unsurprising, given the total lack of activity on the site the last couple years. I wonder if they ever applied for historic credits through the National Park Service and if so, how that review went? Residential use would seem to make the most sense, but I wonder if the costs to convert it...

Catherine -- is the pocket park design finalized? Can you share any renderings?

Glancing over while driving up 295 this morning it looks like they're making steady progress with demolition...

Portland Foreside | 58 Fore Street | Portland

I suspect there will be a lawsuit or two being thrown over the fence from neighbors that should slow this trainwreck down ever further. In particular the guy who bought the big victorian house at the top of the hill that overlooks this site (currently undergoing renovations) has peppered the...

Infill and Small Developments | Portland

It seems like this building exemplifies what affordable housing projects can achieve. It's attractive, fits in the neighborhood, great use of an infill space, etc... I do hope there will be some planters or some other feature to cover most of that concrete base abutting the sidewalk.

Portland Foreside | 58 Fore Street | Portland

It looks to me like they're still finishing the interior build-out.

83 Middle St | CHOM Affordable Housing | Portland

Not the worst part? Actually the Middle Street side isn't bad - brick and glass, the white trim... it looks OK to me. The back 2/3 though... the facade just looks like it was the absolute cheapest option to construct.

    Shipyard Brewery | Cambria Suites | 86 Newbury Street | Covetrus | 12 Mountfort Street | Portland

Ha! I saw them peeling off all the black paneling (I don't know the proper term) a couple weeks ago. Did they make an error during installation that they're trying to fix? No sign that the townhouses are going to be constructed anytime soon on the Newbury Street side either...
