The Seaport needs small block granular development, no more of the soulless superblock, Omni Hotel style projects. It's totally anti urban and anti pedestrian. More residential condos and ground floor retail.

Have we discussed why Massport and the city have not buried the utility lines underground? It's embarrassing. When you have the telephone poles sagging in front of brand new lab buildings, it just looks lousy. Anyone know if there are plans for this?

Landmarked? One or two of them are okay....the others are just urban filler. The building on the corner is as unremarkable as they come. I will grant you that having a variegated street wall rather than a bland box is preferable.

Yeesh...so much wrong here....the windows are so bloody small. All the proportions are off. And of course, the brick looks paper thin.

I totally agree with everything being said...The aesthetic of hub hall is unappealing in person. It's not terrible, but it doesn't have much soul and the lighting is off. Time Out is a grand and interesting space, but the corporatized signage hurts the overall chemistry of the place in the same...

I tend to think the offset windows are a mistake here as they interrupt the vertical fluting pattern. Maintaining a consistent line would have given the building a more elegant feeling and emphasized height rather than the girth of the building.

Someone at the BPDA inadvertently put an image of the proposal out there...I saw this earlier this week. I was looking around the BPDA site for news of a project announcement and this is clearly it.

I don't understand how this stuff gets through the BPDA...I've gone through the process and I can't imagine how this kind of thing happens. It's the ugliest wedding cake I've seen in decades.

I agree with GAC108...I think nightlife is poised for a renewal and will continue to liberalize as the culture changes. Boston is becoming less staid, less Yankee, less Irish. Younger generations want more vitality and are less repressed than the older generations. The advent of outdoor dining...

I think it looks great. A little splash in Boston architecture is wonderful.
