975 Boylston | Mass DOT Parcel 13 | Boylston & Mass Ave | Back Bay

Awesome building, great density and massing. I like that its somewhat contextual and echos the mandarin oriental nearby. Nice street wall too.

    69 Kilmarnock Street | Fenway

Good looking building. Nice to see real materials and contextual massing. Older design was better but this is still good.

Bunker Hill Housing Redevelopment | Charlestown

Yes. Its soooo bad. This is why people hate new development. There should be less regulation on massing and more regulation of aesthetics.

Mixed Use (40B Fmr Star Market) | 299 Broadway | Winter Hill | Somerville

I like Boston and the grittyness and history and charm. And I think a lot of people do and thats part of why they film movies here. (Also the film credit.) And people come here and fall in love with the city. If you want a cleaner look with all mid-rise modern buildings there are many cities...

Copper Mill Development | Elm Street and Grove Street | Davis Square

Looking at the renders I dont really understand why they have to demolish that whole history. The big residential tower is going to mostly be on a parking lot in back anyway (and a section of what looks like the back room of the Burren? I guess its OK if they demo that. ) And theres a street...

North Station Gateway | 251 Causeway St | Bulfinch Triangle

Since its going to be a mid rise base with one narrow high rise section anyway, why cant they leave the two existing historic structures on both ends and just demolish the middle one and make that the tower, maybe with a bit of cantilever. Doesnt even have to be a full facadectomy.

    Tufts Development Projects

Love that they are building housing. Like that they made an effort to contextualize the design, at least using brick colored panels, some inset windows, and looks like some some real brick. The massing feels awkward, but I suppose its a constrained site and they did the best they could.

Northeastern University Multipurpose Athletic Facility | 262 St. Botolph Street | Fenway

Wow, so ugly, also why no housing tower on top of podium? Seems like that would be a location there would be little community opposition. Its a huge site. Could probably fit two dorm towers with 1600 beds.

Restoring my faith in humanity a little bit.

Bunker Hill Housing Redevelopment | Charlestown

Yeah missed opportunity, like that other big project on the Mystic in Charlstown they are raising the street level. And I think at the Columbia point redo also. Seems like it might not be too expensive if they just made the ground level or two a parking podium which they need anyway. Even if...

    Cambridge Crossing (NorthPoint) | East Cambridge/Charlestown | Cambridge/Boston

I wanted to hate it but I actually like it design wise. Its like a well done tower in the park theme and the landscaping is really top notch, like NY high line level. Now in terms of the program, its way too office heavy vs residential and the residential should be much denser, same complaint...

Domino Sugar Redevelopment | 425 Medford Street | Charlestown Waterfront

Looks awesome. I mean personally I would ditch the community paths between buildings that will be shady and windy and if anything allocate all the green space to the riverfront which is what people will actually use. I'm not convinced the design relates much to historic Charlestown, but it...

West Cambridge / Alewife Area Infill & Small Developments

I agree, feels gimicky but then they didnt fully commit to the gimmick and added other random elements. I feel like modernism in a historic neighborhood is only good if its really good. That said, its not bad and its nice many units get an outdoor space.

dramatic increase in beds. Thats some good news

    20-23 Cummings Street | Somerville

I work in that area sometimes and walk down Middlesex. Its not too bad. Although 1400 parking spaces in this projects and thousands more in the other projects may make it worse. Im not sure how this project ties together with the rest of Somerville as they claim. Although I do think its hard...

The Ipswich | 2 Charlesgate West | Fenway

No pointless cantilevers, no colorful alcubond, no mixed different facades. Ill take this over a poorly thought out attention grab any day.

Harvard Enterprise Research Campus | 100 Western Avenue | Allston

I really dont like MIT or Harvard recent architecture, but at least MIT has a theme, although it seems to be evil alian invasion or something, but Harvards new stuff is just like a suburban office park menagerie of random gimmicks. MIT's feels more urban, although maybe they just had no choice...

BPDA Austin Street Parking Lot Development | Charlestown

Seems like a win. I would like to see more density, and that could include more step down and a street wall on Rutherford ave. It does seem slightly Le Corbusier. Which is fine but doesn't really fit historic Charlstown.

J.J. Carroll Redevelopment | Chestnut Hill Avenue | Brighton

The cladding yes, the massing no. I think this is a win for density.

Somernova Campus | Duck Village | Somerville

blegh . . . no housing. Just a massive commercial dump that will make the crisis much worse.
