Amazon HQ2 selected - and not Boston

I have to wonder what Amazon's position on non-competes in MA would have been. I have to admit that I'm disappointed that we didn't get it. It's probably a bit selfish of me (as a tech employee), but I was hoping Amazon would have made the tech employee market more competitive here. Boston...

    Waltham Infill and Small Developments

From a couple of years ago now- approved recently by Waltham's zoning board. But if I'm reading this correctly, the city's zoning board was forced to approve the application but the city council is suing the zoning board, while acknowledging that state laws for 40B developments required the...

    Waltham Infill and Small Developments

How many employees would fit into a space like this? Assuming it's typical open-office space and not something fancy like research labs. I'm wondering how many companies there are in the Boston area that would be able to make use of a building of this size (my understanding is that they're...

There's an above ground parking garage nearby which is a pretty good size. Last time I saw the new site I didn't see them digging very deep yet, but they had just started work.

    Waltham Infill and Small Developments

Does anyone know what's going on at 500 Totten Pond Rd's parking lot? I've seen some equipment tearing into it there in the past few weeks. Are they starting construction on the second building? There was a second building in some of the renders I saw.

    The New Retail Thread

Waltham has a (rather stupid in my opinion) policy whereupon expanding or incoming business have to pay for sewer (influx and infiltration) improvements. The effect is that Waltham only gets cellphone stores and hair/nail salons for the most part.

Brothers' Marketplace is coming to the corner of Main and Moody (in the Merc). I was originally hoping for restaurant in this space but this might be even better for activating this area. Haven't found a press release but Robert Logan from the Waltham City Council is confirming in this tweet...

    Somerville Infill and Small Developments

Expensive high schools seem to be a thing around here. Waltham's due for a new one as well, which might end up costing nearly $300 million.

Never heard about this Rhino lounge. And the images do make it look rather tacky to me too. Brewer's Tap and Table will be opening in the old Watch Brewery place any day now. Dozens of beers on tap, 250 seat restaurant. These guys look pretty serious. The Moody's Delicatessen guy will be...

Phase I of the 1265 Main project finished in late 2014- as I understand it, there will be a series of road improvements around 128 that need to start construction before Phase II can begin. More here: http://waltham.wickedlocal.com/news/20160907/whats-next-for-1265-main

    Millennium Tower (Filene's) | 426 Washington Street | Downtown

If this tower goes like other luxury high rise buildings in NYC that are used for investment instead of a residence we may just be calling this 'empty'.

Some slight movement on the 1265 Main project (sounds like this is for the upcoming Phase II): http://www.lincolntown.org/Index.aspx?NID=791 A public meeting will be held on to receive advice and comments from the public on Thursday August 25, 2016 at 10:00am at the Flank Steak House Community...

Seaport Neighborhood - Infill and Discussion

Re: Innovation Dist. / South Boston Seaport I work right next to 128 in Waltham and agree with this. Not much within walking distance here, or in the forseeable future.

Winthrop Center | 115 Winthrop Square | Financial District

Re: 111 Federal St. | Formerly Trans National Place (Winthrop Square) Part 2 It sounds like you are discounting the lendlease design because it's too good. It would be a shame if it was reduced to something lesser but it is better to shoot high I think rather than start with something lesser...
