Affordable Housing via Public Land Levers | Stack Architecture & Development posted on the topic | LinkedIn
For-sale housing aimed at first-time buyers is one of the hardest things to make pencil right now, and public land at near-zero acquisition cost is one of the few levers that can help us get there. Grateful to have helped Boston Communities build this winning proposal, and looking forward to...
“DCAMM has designated Boston Communities to redevelop a 5.05-acre surplus parking lot at 210 Springs Road in Bedford. The parking lot is situated on a scenic road in Bedford which has easy access to recreational amenities including the Narrow-Gauge Rail Trail, Fawn Lake trails, and the Wilderness Park.
The development proposed by Boston Communities includes a total of 25 duplex style ownership homes. The development will include 5 deed-restricted affordable units: 3 units at 80% Area Median Income (AMI) and 2 units at 120% AMI. The future development will maintain also some level of publicly available parking spaces and retain access to the nearby trails.”
