The Bristol Planning Board has given preliminary approval for the conversion and renovation of the former Robin Rug mill complex on the waterfront into a 127 unit housing and retail development. The project has been proposed by Brady Sullivan Properties, LLC, which redeveloped the former American Tourister factory in nearby Warren. The Bristol Yarn Mill Residences would be the second large scale Bristol waterfront mill conversion in recent decades joining Stone Harbour. Part of the proposal includes an extension of the off road harbor walk that would eventually contiguously link the area by the Coast Guard and Elks Club all the way to Independence Park and the East Bay Bike Trail.
