Two Congress | Bulfinch Crossing East Parcel | West End

Definitely a bit of progress, but holy crap this is painful.
Painfully slow demolition of the garage. It almost seems like a scam; is it really being demolished or not? Of course it is, but it sure is weird in its slowness,

Speaking of... Closing the street to take the garage down quicker would most likely save some money. Would closing that part of the road for a short period really destroy the traffic flow in that area?

its everything that is below it (street, sidewalk, active head house, subway lines underground) not allowing for it to be 'demolished'.
street will be closed when necessary (last part after East Parcel portion is cleared).

A prominent spot in downtown Boston could soon become — what else? — lab space, under a plan approved by the Boston Planning & Development Agency Thursday.

The BPDA board approved a request by The HYM Investment Group to redesign the next phase of its massive overhaul of the Government Center Garage as a single, 12-story life science building, instead of three office and residential-oriented buildings around a pedestrian plaza that they approved in 2017. It would go up along the Rose Fitzgerald Kennedy Greenway, roughly where the Haymarket bus depot stands now, after HYM takes down the hulking concrete garage that hangs over Congress Street.

HYM Managing Director Tom O’Brien told the BPDA board the project was shifting in response to requests by the MBTA that no new buildings be placed atop the Haymarket Green Line Station itself. That necessitated changing the plans, which called for an office building over part of the underground station. The new building is shifted west, towards Congress Street, and will create a broad new plaza and bus terminal along the Greenway, which O’Brien said he hoped would improve pedestrian flow between the Greenway and Bulfinch Triangle and the West End.

That is going to be the ugliest, most prominently shitty building in Boston history, bar none. Right on the greenway. One congress is shaping up to be an absolute icon, with a fat turd shit out right on its doorstep. Why… Do they not have eyes? This would be like throwing up 1 waterside place in front of the hancock directly facing copley sq.

Remember back in late elementary school, circa grade 5 or so, when everyone became self-conscious of their looks, and suddenly everyone became obsessed with not being caught with "clashing" clothes? It was the kiss of death. But it all went away relatively quickly, because everyone pretty soon figures out what "clashes" and what doesn't, in terms of mixing-and-matching their apparel items.

Somehow, every single person involved here were of that .01% minority that didn't intuitively pick-up the concept of "clashing" in 5th grade. These facade elements are just astonishingly dissonant.

I’d take a log off the fire. Maybe if they put “WHOOP” on top, I’d agree.

Woah woah let's take a step back from ledge... It's not going to win any awards, but it's hardly going to qualify as the worst offender on The Greenway.

Agree to disagree, I disagree 100% . Or like a rs25 space shuttle main engine 113%.

They literally have the answers to the test. That pisses me off even more.

Two words: Wing man.
This has no choice but making his buddy across the street look really handsome.

Ok, so it's certainly not going to win any awards, but all it really needs to not be the awful eyesore some are making out to be, is a change in color from this brassy bronzy ugliness. If this received a grayscale treatment, it would simply exist and the eyes would immediately go to the State Street building behind it. The pattern and design is simply "fine" and that's all a lab along the Greenway needs to be.
