Sun 21/ 5:00 PM Awards Reception
Design Build Challenge /
See commonboston.org for location
The Design Build Challenge is a national design
and construction competition that focuses on built
responses to community needs. Participants in the
design challenge will have 72 hours to design and
create projects that encourage community participation
within a dense urban environment and benefit
families living in the city.
Teams and individuals from around the country and
from all disciplines and experience levels are encouraged
to participate. Competitors will be asked to
work with to-be-announced clients and sites to find
design solutions addressing the social, economic,
and environmental benefits of city life. The challenge
aims to prove that, even when created in just three
days, an influential and sustainable response to a
real problem can alter our urban fabric and benefit
the community.

Held in conjunction with Common Boston 2009: a celebration of our built environment?the streets, landscapes, buildings, and neighborhoods that make us distinctive.
The Common Boston 09 festival provides an opportunity for all of us to engage with new places and to interact with the people who shape the city. During our tours, discussions, open buildings, and student exhibition, we invite you to take a fresh look at Boston, to understand its history and imagine its future.
All events are free and open to the public.
