Democrats enjoyed their best night in New Hampshire history Tuesday. Democrats upset both incumbent Republican Congressmen, electing Attorney Paul Hodes in the 2nd District, and electing Carol Shea Porter (NH's first Congresswoman ever) in the 1st District. Governor John Lynch was re-elected by the highest margin ever in New Hampshire history winning 75 percent of the vote.

Carol Shea Porter's win is considered the biggest upset in the country, as she was outspent - $1,000,000 to $180,000, and only had enough money to run one single commercial. The Democratic Congressional Committee refused to spend a dime on her campaign because she was considered to have no shot.

Democrats also swept the State Senate, Governor's Council, and the State House. The amazing thing is that Republicans not only controlled all of these before, but they dominated them. To put this in perspective, Democrats have never controlled the Governor's Council ever, Democrats have only controlled the Senate once in 95 years, and Democrats have not controlled the State House since the 1800's.
