I'm curious to know if there are any insiders here with info on this East Pier Boston project? (formerly portside at pier one) I read the 6/1 article from boston.com regarding the stalled status and I'm trying to find out more details on that situation.
Additional side commentary: As a relative newcomer to east boston, it boggles the mind that so much eastie waterfront is undeveloped. If anyone has been to piers park, you know the views from there are jaw dropping, it's a 4 minute tunnel drive to Government center that costs 40 cents for residents (or two T stops on the blue line), and aircraft noise on the waterfront is next to zero because it's tucked inside a runway triangle. In any other city this type of land would be gobbled up and developed like, well... like urban waterfront. Imagine a swath of waterfront with views of downtown Manhattan from across the water and think about how long that would last undeveloped. I'm definitely missing something when it comes to understanding the eastie waterfront.

Its a well known fact that people from east boston are weirdos... straight up. this is not my opinion, people generally accept it as fact. i dont know what it is, but they are strange individuals. I believe this has something to do with it.

This type of comment id generally stay away from, but fuck it, 90% of people on here i already piss off. so be it.

Beton Brut aside, I gotta say that I'm in complete agreement with you. The one and only one person I know from East Boston is just the biggest fruitcake that to this day I still don't understand, no matter how much I've been exposed to him. And boy does he love his planes!

Could I trouble you to put some context around your thoughts?

Are the people you know transplants, post-collegiates, or lifers?

I'll cop to being cynical, contentious, and opinionated...Weird requires "medication."

Re: eastie waterfront

Lifer. And he's well-medicated.

I've lived in or near boston most of my life... I had one good friend, he hung out with the rest of the crew.... he was a weirdo. and i've known or met many a eastie person...they are just strange, i cant even put my finger on it.... thats just my opinion......

BTW, did anybody see boston.com's map of the murders in boston? I was a little suprised there werent more in Chelsea especially. I think there were none, actually. It strikes me as odd, because although i never really hung out there, from what I've seen there are some pretty ghetto areas, as well as some decent/nice areas.

My opinion alot of these murders can be attributed to the cape verde gangs... motherfuckers are crazy, and scare the shit out of me. they just as well look at you as shoot you. sorry off topic again.

I'm on my way out if this is the tone of comments

What a piece of crap comment about the people from East Boston.

It really makes me consider not coming to this board any longer, knowing that some of the readers are so ignorant.

BTW, Chelsea isn't part of Boston, that's why it wasn't on the map of Boston murders.

If you've never experienced this, then you dont know what your talking about. Dont call people ignorant when YOU dont know what you're talking about...

You're ignorant.

vanshnookenraggen where are you!!!

Oh that's right, he only locks threads when people suggest surburanites move into the city if they're so hot and bothered about nimby's.

Blanket derogatory statements about the residents of an entire city neighborhood? Let 'er rip boys!!

Let me guess...kz1000ps did much better in photography class than statistics.

Never took a class in either..

Like I said, i'm basing my judgement off of one person. I know, not exactly a bright thing to do, but boy does that one guy leave a lasting impression.

Christ, I sleep in one day...

Actually I'm not sure why I didn't just delete these posts. Jimbo is right.

People from East Boston are fucking weird. I'll stand by that comment till the day I die. Why? because I'm not ignorant on the subject. Pure and simple. I'm talking about the true bloods from East Boston. They are weird. PERIOD. end of discussion. end of thread. Many people know this to be true, this is not just my opinion.

I never started this thread BTW. VANSHOOK.

And many people know that (insert race here) love (insert stereotype). I think I am keeping these posts around just so people can see what a dumb ass you really are.

Hu ha ha your pretty funny man. I actually know what I'm talking about on east boston people. the rest of you little college kids generally DONT. but because i generalized, your kumbaya granola everybody is equal minds fly off the handle and automatically think its an ignorant comment. At least thats what I'm HOPING. because otherwise, saying someone is ignorant about a subject when you yourself know nothing about it, just isnt very smart.

I will never back off that comment, but intelligent people should understand that I'm allowing for some exceptions to the rule. People that are actually from boston, unlike most on here, know what Im talking about.

Vanshook, shouldnt you be out spending your entire day taking some lame pictures of some burnt out buildings somewhere? That was fun for most people when they were about 16. apparently you havent progressed beyond that point yet.

And the townie v. barnie tradition continues unabated in Boston...

^how old are you, BD? Based on how obnoxious, stubborn, and ignorant (yes, IGNORANT. I don't care how well you think you know eastie, you cant lump 38,000 people under your subjective definition of weird and insist that everyone else acknowledge it. It's your opinion, and you're entitled to it, just know that it's a shallow and highly stereotypical one.) your posts are, I'd say no more than 14. How far off am I?

I can't believe I'm saying this, but I kinda miss Dude.

ok this is the last comment im making on this, cuz its getting very tiresome. I never INSISTED that people acknowledge me, but i was insisting that THIS ISNT JUST MY OPINION. Its WIDELY held. Young people, baby boomers, old people. Its a running joke INSIDE the city.

The funny thing is i keep reading "your ignorant" "your shallow" your basically a racist..... blah blah blah... but i HAVENT heard anybody saying... "Hey I have 10 friends from there, as well as friends throughout the city, East Boston isnt weird." or "i have family from there and all the other relatives think they are down to earth people"

It's real easy to dismiss somebody as ignorant, apparently, ESPECIALLY when you dont know your shit.

Lastly I want to close with, take a look at East Boston people. Its not landlocked to boston like almost every other part of boston, its right next to a fucking airport..... and i guess it only has what 38,000 people in it? less than 10% of the pop of boston? is it really that far fetched to think that maybe "people from east boston are weird" just maybe? with of course many exceptions, but you should get the idea.

BTW dont lump me in with dudeyoursisterishot. I never personally attack people on here and make other retarded comments like you must have a feminine voice and have limp wrists and other bullshit comments when the other person never said shit to him.

and yea im 14, bostonboy is my older brother.
