Maine Medical Center, located in the historic West End of Portland, is currently undergoing a dramatic expansion project, which will include a new women and infants center, serving as a pioneer in layout plans for hospital care, which will be connected to the main building via skybridge, as well as a new central utilities plant, parking garage addition, and a helipad. All of this will make the hospital, which is consistently ranked in the top 2% nationally for major care centers, continue to be the largest hospital north of Boston for quite some time to come.
