MGM Music Hall (née Fenway Theater) | 12 Lansdowne St | Fenway

New name for this - "MGM Music Hall at Fenway". Sounds like purely a naming rights deal - Live Nation (through an associated company) is still running the place.

I like how they make sure to make this look like an extension of the existing brick at the stadium. Looks like itll be pretty seamless, like its always been there.

Its pretty cool how stadiums all across the country are adding night life spaces to their surrounding areas (td garden included) to make them much more central to the neighborhood regardless of games, and fenway has found a seamless way to get in on the action without cheapening the brand whatsoever and imo making an improvement on the streetscape.

This is a cool project.

Not to mention it will be one of the few (only?) indoor concert venues in the city in the 5,000 capacity range. Most, if not all, of our indoor venues are smaller or larger. The only venue I can think of at all in this range is the outdoor harbor pavilion. This is great news for those who like seeing live music.

Equilibria -- correct me if I'm wrong -- but I think there's a Hall of some sort at the MGM Hotel and Casino in Springfield -- I would expect that the two places might coordinate their bookings

Pretty awesome that this triangular plot lasted this long without being developed. Long enough for a new wave of neighborhood oriented, entertainment focused, sports stadium additions to be happening around the country, to where the space was open for a venue as old as Fenway to get in on the action and have something comparable to these new stadiums. Somehow both sports stadiums had empty lots all these years, leading to incredible developments today.

As much as it sucked its pretty awesome that the garden also had that empty parking lot all these years too, so now they were able to do the same, with a development better now than anything that would have been built there before. As old as both venues are theyve been able to keep up with the times and were actually lucky that they had these empty lots for so long. Both stadiums also perfectly fit into the fabric of Boston, couldnt ask for anything more.

Bleachers directly above the first standing room area to line up with the bleachers on the right. The second floor is still there but it is behind the bleachers. This layout blends in really well and it would look better in real life, the point would be to match it to the upper level to the right.

Why not add more seating while they have the chance?

Agreed, and my gut tells me that Fenway Sports Group will definitely add more seats in the foreseeable future. Something similar to this paintshop version which honestly looks really cool. It'll give the park a new look for fans and people watching at home. Despite all the changes made to Fenway, there's still a ton of hatred towards JH and co. Four WS titles in the past decade and they're the most hated ownership in all of Massachusetts.

As crazy as it sounds, this render would actually breathe new life into the olde park. The NIMBY opposition hasn't been too much of a factor this time around and it'll be less of a factor going forward. I know that I sound like a broken record but I truly think Boston is starting to grow up a little bit. If this were 1999, forget about it, but the city has evolved.

Why would FSG add more seats? They're not selling out Fenway anymore on a consistent basis.

5,000 seats is a great filler space for Boston, and would actually be designed for concerts! Fenway can handle 37,000 for a concert (with poor sightlines), and across the street is House of Blues: "House of Blues can hold up to 1,625 people but we unfortunately can’t provide 1,625 individual seat views. "

?? The Jacobs family would like a word...

And if you didn't hate Jeremy Jacobs before...

Plus the new balance performance theater under construction with I believe 3,000 seats, and Hub on Causeway also has a smaller 1000? person theater, so theres going to be a great variety of venues and sizes in the city when these are combined with what Boston/Cambridge already has.

Taken off of Instagram by Heather. I think she works at the ballpark and took these atop the Observatory
