Brooksby Farm in Peabody today...
I was disappointed they had no decent pumpkins for sale, my girlfriend wanted to carve one up, but they had little ones for a dollar each, which was pretty good. And some nice gourds but with no price.
But I was delighted to discover peach picking! Had you asked me yesterday if peaches grew in New England, I would call you crazy. So for 8 dollars you receive a bag that holds half a peck.
We snuck off to check on the apple trees (which are available for picking around September 9th) and found very few that were good for picking. We nabbed one small one that looked closest to ripe, it wasn't very sweet or "appley" yet.
We found this strange tree of yellow apples in the middle of a red apple orchard? Golden Delicious? Granny Smith? Kinda strange it was the only one like it....
We found watermelons, they were mostly pretty small, and didn't look too ripe. There was also some other kind of melon, cucumbers, and tomatoes.
We gave a peach to this guy, but an emu ended up finishing it:
We also gave a peach to flock of sheep, but then a goat stole the whole thing, that little bitch.
