Friday, July 20, 2007
Massachusetts Port Authority officials approved funding for a $1.8 million water transportation terminal to support new development in South Boston?s growing Seaport District.
The terminal will be built on Northern Avenue between the World Trade Center and Fish Pier and will serve as a drop-off and pickup point for commuter boats, water taxis and charter vessels. Design work will start later this summer, and construction is expected to begin next year.
?The new terminal would provide the gangways, ramps, floating docks, weather protection and other amenities that are needed to promote greater water transit through Boston Harbor,? Massport CEO and executive director Thomas Kinton Jr. said.
Pretty close to the Silver Line too.
