Buckoo’s picture is very interesting. Fenway Park was ramshackle compared to (not pictured) Braves Field.

There were apartment or boarding room buildings built right up to the track, The Windermere and the Farragut. Must have been loud with trains rumbling 5' from the building.

Here's a pic, the Windermere building on the left. The building in the background center is the TJ Max at Newbury. The Farragut Blg on the right. Probably apartments as well.

Here is the other side of Mass Ave (parcel 13?) The TJ Max building was the transit authority bldg with a carriage trolley house at street level that span over the tracks (parcel 13). You can see the garage entry in the 1932 picture looking down Boylston after the Farragut Bldg. Also the garage entry is still on the Newbury side.

The TJ Maxx building was also the location of the bar in the 1973 film "The Friends of Eddie Coyle". The bar was in a retail space that was right on the corner of Newbury and Mass Ave, about where the entrance to TJ Maxx is today, with the front facing Mass Ave.

I remember when the #1 bus line went into the portals shown in your last photo into the same station that the trolley cars used decades prior. I think when the Mass Pike was built, use of that station ended.
