what's the "NFL Network"? Some ad-hoc collection of local stations?

The NFL Network is just another cable network like ESPN or NESN. The idea is that the NFL wanted to keep as much as advertising revenue as possible, so they decided to start broadcasting the games themselves as well as selling the rights to other networks. Last I heard, the NFL is having trouble getting cable companies to carry the network.

Comcast has it along with like their On Demand content. Every week they have Patriots Monday from WEEI-AM with Richard Seymour, et al and half hour summaries of all the games in the NFL played in a particular week.

Don't mean to sound like a cable ad but it is actually pretty good.
