I'm still not a fan of this one. A park there is completely unnecessary given the proximity of the Eastern Prom Trail and there are better uses for the property.

I kind of agree with you. Although it could have been made into temporary space with colorful shipping containers, etc. like they've done in Boston's Seaport District. All that you need to do for the middle is unroll a big carpet of artificial grass to sit and drink and eat on, along with the kids to play. That's a mere one month build, if that. This one in Portland will go into the winter and perhaps not open until September of 2027! All summer now in the middle of the dynamic tourist area on the waterfront it will be non-stop digging and plowing and surfacing and brick or stone laying. Then it will be some digging up and fixing.
