http://www.boston.com/yourtown/news/charlestown/2013/02/apartment_building_approved_fo.htmlThe Boston Redevelopment Authority has approved a building project that will transform a vacant lot in the Charlestown Navy Yard into a residential apartment building.
Starboard Place, a $16 million project proposed for the vacant parcel at 1st Avenue and 9th Street in the Charlestown Navy Yard, was approved by the city’s development authority at its board meeting Thursday.
The 48,000-square-foot building will bring 54 units, including 11 affordable housing units, to the neighborhood.
Because the Navy Yard is a National Landmark, Starboard Place has been designed to conform to Historic Monument Area design guidelines, which are in agreement with the National Park Service, Massachusetts Historical Commission, Boston Landmarks Commission, and the BRA, the city said.
Looking at a map, I think the lot is about 10,000 sq ft.
