I checked this out over the weekend too.

The city is also rebuilding Somerset/Kennebec Street right now – I believe the project is going to reconnect the missing section of Somerset between Preble and Elm to create a continuous east-west street connection all the way to Forest Ave.:

The Furman Block honestly doesn't look bad! I'd like to see some up close pics.

I'm liking the use of materials other than brick here. A nice addition to the neighborhood on what used to be a dirt parking lot.

I wouldn't say it's a masterpiece....but it's different. And they definitely stayed true to the original design, materials and colors.
