Ok, so, you stumble upon this dead thing at 10PM while walking the beach. You think it's a horseshoe crab, except it oddly has NO legs, though it looks like its underside got a little torn up, so okay... but you flip it over, whoa, it has no shell. Ok, maybe horseshoe crab shells can break off, I mean, it IS dead... You look at it's tail, it has small spikey things the whole length of it's tail. Probably a few dozen up each side. Alright, so we've got something here, huh? Then, with a seashell you're prodding the end of it's tail to notice there's a hard tail tip. Ok, so now you're just like, "Holy shit".

What could it be?

EDIT: It was probably about 8 inches wide at it's head. And maybe about 18 inches from nose to end of tail.

Definitely not shaped like a Skate, and looked like the Stingray, but it did have the double rounded fin on the end of the tail as the Skate does.

Revere beach you say?

That looks alot like what I saw.

When/where did you find it on the beach?

It's a skate. As a retired lifeguard, I can say that with 100% certainty. We had them everyday. It's all torn up underneath because seagulls will get them when they are in the shallow water, drag them to shore and rip them apart in the soft underbelly (the top is bony and bumpy). They look a LOT like stingrays but they are perfectly harmless (no poison barb). I must have buried over 100 of these things in the dunes.
